The AT 2020 sounds great in Bandrew's sound-treated room, but try this mic in just about any other setting, including most streamers' bedrooms, and it's Echo-Town meets Room-Noise-Ville. For 95% of people who watch this channel the AT BP40 is a much better choice, (hell, so is the SM58) and will likely sound better than all the mics tested here based on room noise reduction alone.

it says in the box below that there is no post processing, just audioboost. there are various factors that could affect the sound quality. think of audio interface, room acoustics, electric interference, and wire cable quality are just some factors to consider that most people dont give a shit about but really should

Some surprising standouts. AKG and Lewitt are quite good, Mackie and Presonus quite bad, imo. Btw, the 2020 is maybe not the best baseline. Next to its pinched, nasally tone, almost anything sounds better. AT makes great mics, this isn’t one of them. It might be more helpful to use the Neumann as a benchmark, highlighting each demo subject’s relative qualities. These demos are a great service to the community. 👍🏽 Kudos!

Thank you for making this Video! I'd love to see a video about the se electronics x1s. I'm really happy with mine and I'm curious, what you think about. You could also compare it with the x1 and the x1a. I think they got the same kind of thing going on there like Rode. There's the rode nt1 and there's the rode nt1a, which is the nt1, but it sounds worse. And there's the SE x1s, which costs 130 -150 dollars/euros/pounds and there is also the x1a, which is cheaper, but has a way smaller capsule in it (and an integrated foam windscreen for whatever reason).

Hey I need a video on AKG P120 for Voice Overs, and a myth that the -20db pad can reduce the background noise or not... Need clarification on that... Thanks
@martinkulik94663 жыл бұрын
For background noise get dynamic or usb mic or simple jack lavaliere mic unless you need Pro studio/ radio quality for national broadcasting
@Podcastage23 жыл бұрын
No the -20dB pad cannot decrease background noise. If you engage the 20dB pad you'll be increasing the gain on your preap by 20dB. That won't do anything to decrease the background noise. Now if you turn down the gain on your preamp or engage the -20dB pad and then get closer to the mic to increase the level, this will improve your signal to background noise ratio.

@@antoineinniss5586 the thing I noticed Bandrew does is about mic position. Usually he speaks above the microphone or slightly from the left, instead of using any popfilter or windscreen. And it's also decent interface, and properly adapted room. And also every language differs in a way how it sounds. And by the way, I also noticed that sometimes microphones here sound better than on other channels. But it's rather not any post processing. Sometimes smaller channels have AAC instead of Opus, or it is being converted to Opus after some time if the clip is not QHD/+
