Audio Test Flight

I moved my audio input to the camera facing me from the camera facing the passenger. When I did this I didn't update the input settings for the new camera which caused static. This flight was to make sure I had the correct settings now and to test the quality.

I didn't even notice the high pitch whine until I read the comments. It's there but nearly imperceptible. Nice flight but you're going to be hard pressed to ever top the views of the early flight with Trish to Chicago! That was spectacular! Love your videos Mike!

I really don’t hear it anymore in the headset…but I do hear it just a little in the videos. I’m gonna keep trying things to fix it. I can always just turn off the strobes and lights when I want to do the high talking areas of a video. Yes the Chicago skyline in the clear morning is hard to beat! First off, what a lovely environment you live in there, oh so nice. The hard work has paid off. I’m hearing continuous changing high frequency noise. Me I’d be looking at how to suppress electrical interference to the audio from the engine as the frequency pitch is directly related to engine RPM, charging cable out then in no change to what I hear. Also a little crackling which isn’t to intrusive.

Thank you and it’s my strobes and landing lights when they are in wig-wag mode. Even though they are LED’s I still get the interference. If I shut them off the noise goes away. I don’t hear it in the headset but it hits the video.

FYI we have nearly finished our 8’s empennage and thanks for your Vlogs always helpful and informative. The noise interference isn’t to bad anyway but seeing your on a mission here I thought I’d mention my thoughts, again something for us to consider for the future. I’m in Australia and a KZbinr down here I watch has a Vlog which may give you ideas how to source your audio differently. Stephen Drury, “How to record cockpit audio” He’s a Cirrus guy but we all fly😎 and he’s likeable and funny too. Big improvement on previous video anyway, good luck.

BTW did you put in the fuel pump audio filter Vans sells? I think it is a big cap wired in parallel with the aux fuel pump.

I wish I could find the cause of the interference from the lights. AeroLED says they now recommend the ground go inside of a shielded cable rather than using the shield as the ground which is what I did. So I may have to run new wiring to fix the issue.
