Being from Texas that accent is very authentic. I have no doubt that is probably the way Sullivan spoke.

The narrator should have learned the correct pronunciation of Quanah TX / Quanah Parker before repeatedly butchering the name dozens or more times as Canna.

@@fromtexasbygod it's just that kids seem to be the ones who complain about comforts and such.. I meant nothing disrespectful but just more like an identifying statement.. I found the country charm aspect of this particular narrator fit right in with the character he was portraying as the biographer was from MS. being raised up in the era he was.... A little kindness goes a long way and really shouldn't be that hard to muster up seeing as how it cost nothing to partake of the narration .. You take care hear..

His claim of standing up alone to 400 armed rough men with pistols drawn is so ridiculous it's beyond laughter, leading me to doubt most , maybe all of his self serving bravado.

I didn't really read it that way. It was basically the plot to most of the old westerns where they have people locked up and a mob gathers outside wanting to get in. There were other law enforcement officers there along with him so I don't really see him as claiming he stood down 400 people, in fact that was his estimate of people in the street he could have been way off. Either way I think it was a thoroughly enjoyable book and it's a nice little look into how things were at that time.
