Is Waves Platinum Worth $99 In 2024?

Seriously! Outside of Clarityvx, I have abandoned all of my Waves plugins. I got a new Mac and I didn’t even bother installing them except for Clarityvx. For too long they keep charging me to update the same tired plugins that still look the same. Couldn’t have even bothered giving them a new coat of paint for paying the update. Just two years ago, I spent $190 to update them to V14 and now I read this version will not be compatible with Sequoia. I’m going to be on Sonoma for a while but when the time comes, only Clarityvx will be updated. Bye bye Waves

@@FreakinOutOnAudio definitely some old plugins here but still some are really good. Audio track and Q10 has to be some of the first waves plugins ever

I was being a bit dramatic. There are a couple antique waves plug-ins I use, mainly rbass. It’s just that most of the bread and butter stuff has been well improved upon elsewhere since. I really don’t need the old verbs or compressors etc from waves.

Nope. Then you have to pay again when they update. I was a huge fan-until I realized that, and until the whole subscription debacle. Dumped em all and got better quality elsewhere.

Waves is overhyped, gimmicky even these days. I haven't mixed with waves in half a decade. I will say that RVox, Rcomp, H-Delay, SSL G-Comp, and SSL G-Channel are probably the best thing they've ever made. All the rest of the plugs are just marketing junk with somebody's name on it. I much prefer Softube, Acustica Audio, and Fabfilter.

There is a handful of decent plugins, but I got all of those for free over the years with their giveaways, the rest are worse than any plugins that come in most daws. So no, not worth it.

Nah not for Waves. There are much better options available not to mention the stock equivalents in your DAW at least with Pro Tools and Cubase.
