Your comment that "good audio" is probably more important than 'bad video" was brought home to me recently. I am a KZbin history buff. I began working in broadcasting in the mid-1950's at ABC-TV in NY. At that time, before even black & white videotape was commercially developed, programing was recorded on Kinescope for immediate re-transmission to delayed time zones and for program preservation. To those too young to know what and how Kinescope operated; basically, a black & white motion picture film camera was pointed directly into a black & white TV monitor. The expose film was immediately fed into a chemical photographic processor and came out fully developed and dried very quickly. The audio was recorded simultaneously on the film stock on an optical soundtrack (later on a magnetic stripe). The grainy film quality was poor, but the audio was comparatively good. That is why when viewing a very old video on KZbin today; while the picture is extremely poor, the audio is usually more acceptable. This goes to the premise that you will watch poor video with acceptable audio, but not necessarily the other way around.

Great advice and great video. I use this exact setup (same stand and microphone) as my primary setup and think it sounds even better than an expensive wireless lav. Great video. I bought a pair of Movo VXR10 Pro mics. And 2 inexpensive Syntek shotgun mics for just under $20 each. The Syntek actually sound awesome. I tried mic’ing my Marshall 4x12 with the Movo’s at different distances and locations on the speaker from edge to center. I use a Beachtek preamp. I came to the conclusion the sound output from the speakers is a bit much for the small shotgun mic’s, but for voice they are perfect. The overhead boom sound is ideal. I bought Shure SM57’s for the Marshall 4x12 cabs snd css as my wait to try them.

@AudioforContentCreators
@AudioforContentCreators 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Johnny. You most likely want some kind of pop filter, depending on the angle and proximity to the mic. I'd prefer a foam wind screen for indoors, but the VXR10 only comes with a dead cat. The VXR10 Pro, meanwhile, comes with both a pop filter and a dead cat. I recently made some videos with the Pro completely bare in this setup and occasionally had some bad plosives get in. Should have used the foam!

Hee - at that distance it doesn't matter. The reason you do that is avoid breath wind. And in fact, with that bushy on - you can get as close to your mouth as you want with no pops or SSSS's. If you want the purest of pure sound, though - use a pop-filter which is just a screen. In the wind - you need Mr. or Ms. Bushy.
