Chris, I never cared about celebrities. Even when they died it was "oh that sucks." I found out you died at 7:05am. I had just started my shift. It ruined my whole day, and I thought about it regularly for over a week. I realized I listened to your music so much because it was so relatable, it felt like it was my own words. You made an impact on me that no other celebrity could even come close to. Rest in Peace, man. No one sings like you anymore.

GnR, Slash, Duff McKagen FNM, Patton, Jim Martin, Bottom, Kurt Cobain (though he was not speaking to anyone being unwell) No ppl he was not depressed or suicidal. Later C.Love.(what a fucking mess) REM..Peter Gabriel many more. I don't like to have regrets but the 3 or 4 opportunities I had to meet Chris. I couldn't go from the situation at that time in my life controlling me( i was young)but I will always regret not pushing on back, being stronger than the jealous older mean spirited bastard I wasted 3 precious yrs with, and going. I get a stab of pain in my heart that I missed my chances to say Thank You to Chris for his music!!

Have you ever heard of "Warrick Dunn" Warrick suffered from depression during his football career. Warrick Dunn did some incredible things, he built over 32 homes for single mothers and did lots of community work. That's a fine human being, yet he still faced the daily struggle with depression. I agree with a lot of your statement, I think natural highs can be 1 of the best medicines to overcome "bland/rough spots" in 1s life. Good luck to you

This song and many other of Chris' songs have helped me so much with my mental health throughout the years. Depression and substance abuse is a hard suffering to be dealt with and overcome. I remember listening to this song for the first time when I started getting into bands like Audioslave and Soundgarden (I was born in 2006 so it wasn't until Chris' tragic passing when I was 12 or 13 when I started to get into rock and just music in general and develop an understanding and appreciation for great musicians like Chris.) Anyways, when I first heard this song, once I heard the first verse I just felt an immediate deep connection to what he was saying. I felt like I finally discovered a musician that saw with the same eyes as me. The way Chris was able to portray his emotions and the way he views the world and create imagery within his music is something that can never be done the same again. I will forever be grateful for the inspiration and comfort that I derived from his music.

I couldn't agree more. His music has honestly changed my life as stupid as that may sound. Such deep meanings and lessons in his music I can't help but truly feel his pain, like wow he had a way of expressing his depression and pain, like no other artist I've come across.

For a 16 year-old, you are wise and smart way beyond your years Tommy. I just want you to know that as you see the inspiration in Chris, you too have the same un-replicatable qualities as he did and that same heart and spirit lives-on inside you buddy. "Just Be Yourself" R.I.P. Chris Cornell
@mattvanloon15385 жыл бұрын
Nah man, he's not giving advice... He's telling the truth. He's not saying if you ''Just Be Yourself'' everything will be ok. He's saying you cant do anything BUT ''Be yourself''. It's an argument against the existence of free will. Something i found that almost everybody missed in this song, it's not a happy song, its a dark one, just like most of his music.
@mattvanloon15385 жыл бұрын
Ohhh and i forgot 1 thing....... ''You may win or lose, but to be yourself is all that you can do''. A statement about the way of things... NOT ADVICE. Very nihilistic.
