You can't sing along with this song and not feel emotion. Sometimes when you're depressed you feel the closest and furthest from humanity. I'm sure I'm not the only person this song has dug out of the hole and even made a rainy day feel great. Rip Chris. We're still here in 2024.

Chris, I never cared about celebrities. Even when they died it was "oh that sucks." I found out you died at 7:05am. I had just started my shift. It ruined my whole day, and I thought about it regularly for over a week. I realized I listened to your music so much because it was so relatable, it felt like it was my own words. You made an impact on me that no other celebrity could even come close to. Rest in Peace, man. No one sings like you anymore.

I feel you, Ben. Chris had a way of voicing pain in a way people from all walks of life could appreciate. When I found out Chris passed I cried. There will never be another Chris Cornell, he was magnificently one of a kind and will never be replaced in my heart. Rest in peace, King. Your work will live on to remind us of your brilliance.

I feel exactly the same..I met many bands and famous ppl through work, some socially. GnR, Slash, Duff McKagen FNM, Patton, Jim Martin, Bottom, Kurt Cobain (though he was not speaking to anyone being unwell) No ppl he was not depressed or suicidal. Later C.Love.(what a fucking mess) REM..Peter Gabriel many more. I don't like to have regrets but the 3 or 4 opportunities I had to meet Chris. I couldn't go from the situation at that time in my life controlling me( i was young)but I will always regret not pushing on back, being stronger than the jealous older mean spirited bastard I wasted 3 precious yrs with, and going. I get a stab of pain in my heart that I missed my chances to say Thank You to Chris for his music!! And maybe have a talk about his songs and his views about life..This will forever and always be my biggest and only regret....Lord knows. R.I.P. Brother 💜

I'm a 69 yr old guy who grew up with music from Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Deep Purple. . . . So am relatively a new listener to this particular group, but have been a huge fan of Chris Cornell from the first time I heard THAT VOICE. So much soul and heart pours out whether it's a ballad or pushing his voice to the limits. What a shame for this talent to be absent from our world. As another comment said- R.I.P. Mr Cornell- and , tho many songs came from your pain, thank you for leaving a mark that will always be there. Love this tune!!!

I think part of the mental health struggle can be trying not to be yourself. You have to be you. That's the only way to live in reality. That doesn't mean you can't become a better version of you, though. Face those demons and come out the other side on top. It can be scary as shit, and you have to do the work, but it's so worth it.

Someone falls to pieces Sleeping all alone Someone kills the pain Spinning in the silence She finally drift away Someone gets excited In a chapel yard Catches a bouquet Another lays a dozen White roses on a grave And be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do Someone finds salvation in everyone Another only pain Someone tries to hide themself Down inside himself he prays Someone swears their true love Until the end of time Another runs away separate or united? Healthy or insane? And be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) To be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) To be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) Be yourself is all that you can do Even when you've paid enough Been pulled apart Or been held up Every single memory of The good or bad, faces of love Don't lose any sleep tonight I'm sure everything will end up alright You may win or lose But to be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do To be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) To be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) To be yourself is all that you can Be yourself is all that you can Be yourself is all that you can do

That our "Self" is defined in relation to the "Self" of others, with time, complexity, and causality creating the unique human that we all are, built from the little pieces of others we meet along the way...at least that's what I've gathered so far in my 35 years...

Have you ever heard of "Warrick Dunn" Warrick suffered from depression during his football career. Warrick Dunn did some incredible things, he built over 32 homes for single mothers and did lots of community work. That's a fine human being, yet he still faced the daily struggle with depression. This song and many other of Chris' songs have helped me so much with my mental health throughout the years. Depression and substance abuse is a hard suffering to be dealt with and overcome. I remember listening to this song for the first time when I started getting into bands like Audioslave and Soundgarden (I was born in 2006 so it wasn't until Chris' tragic passing when I was 12 or 13 when I started to get into rock and just music in general and develop an understanding and appreciation for great musicians like Chris.) Anyways, when I first heard this song, once I heard the first verse I just felt an immediate deep connection to what he was saying. I felt like I finally discovered a musician that saw with the same eyes as me. The way Chris was able to portray his emotions and the way he views the world and create imagery within his music is something that can never be done the same again. I will forever be grateful for the inspiration and comfort that I derived from his music.

Whenever I’m feeling scared, insecure, and I feel like I’m gonna lose it; I always find myself coming back to this song for comfort. I feel like I’m gonna be alright after listening to it, and I start feeling lighter and breathing easier and my mind calms down. I love the sound, Chris Cornell is highly talented along with the rest of the band [R.I.P. Chris, and you are still loved and missed😢], and I love the meaning. I appreciate that this beautiful piece of art was created. Thank you.❤️

His lyrics explore the darkness, but also give hope. That's important in hard rock.
