@VoiceOverAngela, great content. You are awesome for this free content that is gold! Just started my VO journey and so far submitted 3 auditions on ACX. The 2nd audition I submitted didn't go so well as I listened back to my mp3 file and it was horrible. I got feedback from the author who said I needed to work on my recordings better. Def a great learning experience as I was rushing the night I submitted that audition and am trying to get a job so quickly because I want VO to be my business. I guess I need to slow down and soak up all the knowledge and not risk poor quality for more content submitted. Thanks

Yes, there is alot to learn in not just technique but with the technical side as well. Keep soaking it all in and practicing!

Hmmmm.... 2 to 6 hours work per "finished hour". Quite an eye opener for a newbie like me. Not long been subscribed to Angelas channel - there's some great content on here. She has the style of "this is what you really need to know". Great content, much appreciated.

It is, thats why a lot of people want to make sure the project is worth their time. Let's say if you're getting paid $50/pFH, and it takes you as long to edit as you record, thats still $25/hr. Or if you only audition for books that pay $200-$400/pFH, or like Angela here when you look at the sales on books that pay royalties. Doing the right research and landing a great opportunity could pay you some passive income for well over what other books pay, just spread out over time. But these are all still "if you land the Audition"

Hello Angela, I'm so glad that I found you. I've been following you for about two weeks. You explain so well. Some people move through things so fast that you need to rewind to examine the screen/visual. This was a particularly good and helpful video.*****

Glad you mentioned estimated total production time. Production takes time. Thank you for your time & for sharing your experience.

I think most of us parents can relate to this sample of this book.

This was really helpful. Thanks very much!! Off topic, I need to strengthen my voice and breathing. Have you used any excersizes for this?
@VoiceOverAngela

Thank you for watching! The best exercise for this is practice. Practice, practice, practice. You will teach your self to breathe in the appropriate places and increase your endurance as well.

Thats funny, I actually auditioned for this same book last night. I wonder if the author has forgotten about it.

Would it be doable (do you think) to do the voice work but pay someone else to do the editing and still both make money (I'm autistic and can do the voice work I know but I'm worried about the editing)

Yes, you can absolutely hire an audiobook editor. :)

When doing auditions where the author included chapter number and chapter name, do you read those as well into the audition?

I usually do

When I apply normalization, the audio is usually lower. Should I start with a higher audio/louder audio?
@VoiceOverAngela
@VoiceOverAngela 2 жыл бұрын
That could be a factor. When I am recording, the volume, before any processing, is about -12db.

I have the Adobe Audition CC but my screen doesn't look like yours. What is the setting and screen? Mono? Mult-track?
@VoiceOverAngela
@VoiceOverAngela 2 жыл бұрын
It is a mono, single audio track, I have also changed the colors :)

When doing auditions, if the author includes pauses, should i do the full pause? Ex. (pause for 1min)

If the author notes a 1 minute pause in an audition, I'm guessing for a meditation? Then a shorter pause would probably be good to show you're paying attention. But they're really looking for a voice that fits. Your read will be more important

ACX is not available globally, yet. There are more ways to find audiobook work though. Marketing yourself on social media has been wonderful for me. As well as some freelance marketplaces and voice over websites are great places to find audiobook work as well.

@@VoiceOverAngela awesome I watched the whole video. But I was wondering, how do you deal with noise coming from your laptop or computer? It's a pain in the a$$. I use audacity to edit my recordings, but it kind of still there.
