Auditory learning tips: #1. Record yourself or everything #2. Listen to podcast or watch videos to learn from the topic. #3. Repeat facts out loud with eyes close. #4. Get a tutor. #5. Get a study buddy. #6. Experiment with background music, maybe without lyrics. #7. Read out loud or mouth the words. #8. Ask for verbal directions to get more detailed. #9. Request an oral exam. #10. Make it into a song.

I watched your videos about the different kinds of learners and finally I could say that I'm auditory and kinesthetic learner 'cause I cannot concentrate on a lecture without reading out loud somehow I understand better in that way, as well as kinesthetic cause I rather learn by doing than just watching the explaining of something. I know that is not just about the approach that works best for us, is also about the type of content that is taught, is that right? Thank you 💕☺️ so much for your content 😊 my best wishes for your channel. Keep growing :).
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie, thanks so much for watching! I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll try to answer. The type of learner you are is mostly related to how you like to learn content and slightly related to the type of content you might be interested in (for example, visual learners might be more drawn to the visual arts versus a verbal learner who might be more drawn to literature). I hate to generalize too much because each of us is unique, but these videos are a good starting point for exploring further. Thanks so much for supporting the channel and please share with friends and family!

I am definitely the type who reads out loud and turn words into songs or even stories. What also helps is when I tell this song or story to someone else. However, I’m also very independent so a study buddy or tutor does not work well with me.

I'm an auditory learner. It takes me a long time to read non-audio books! Because without sub-vocalizing, I can't enjoy or understand whatever I'm reading. But that means I have to go slowly. I can "listen fast" though, to sped-up audiobooks and lectures, but I prefer to listen at normal speed for fiction and drama. Because in those the cadence of the speech seems more intentional?
@mikaelastefkova
@mikaelastefkova Жыл бұрын
I wonder if I'm an auditory learner, because I certainly learn best when listening to audiobooks and lectures and I'm able to remember different voices, movies scripts and exact things people told me or even a whole audiobook if I like it (I know The Little Prince and Pressures residential by Philip Hensher a word to word) - while I struggle to learn something from a textbook only.. but when it comes to instructions, I might remember them but have to write them down to understand them, if that makes sense? I'm not very well able to follow something without making points for myself out of something someone told me, even tho I might remember exactly what they said. It's like it doesn't make sense as long as it's only a "Voice message" in my head haha
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie Жыл бұрын
That's so interesting! What a cool skill you have. Instructions are very different from a fictional story, so it makes sense you would need to use different strategies. When we're learning it's always important to re-interpret things using our own language, examples, and personal context. So you're doing exactly what you should be!
@mikaelastefkova

@@SharpCookie Thank you, haha Sometimes it's really difficult tho, as I remember many songs/speeches they get constantly stuck in my head, making it difficult to concentrate 🙈 Thank you, that makes sense! I recently found out I might be autistic, so I'm wondering if this "skill" and difficulty might be connected 🍀 Perhaps learning about my strengths and limitations could help me find even better strategies when it comes to both communication and learning 🤔✨

In a YT video I was watching before this, the use of dramatic opera music as background music, I found it hella distracting because I've listened to and was familiar with that song. That's why if I can I like to study to background music that's instrumental but also doesn't have a recognizable "tune" like many classical works do for me. Tunes and words are both distracting to me, I mean. But also I can sit and do nothing and just focusing solely on the music. Or I like to get up and dance or walk around a lot.

I mean what I do in my free time is mostly audio stuff (also art/visual and learning by doing things though too). I got up and remembered to vape weed in the basement in the laundry room because I remembered upon waking a conversation me and my wife had had the night before about where I should vape in the house, and it's her house, but also obviously I'd value her input on that either way. It's starting to get too cold to do that outside, which I used to do. I vaped while listening to my favorite Smash Mouth album, which I'm rediscovering and have not heard many of the songs in about 20 years, but I still remember exact details of how these songs go and I love singing along with them. Then, I listen to "new old" Smash Mouth, some stuff by them that I didn't listen to when it came out, it's spelunking for "B Sides", a thing I like to do a lot from artists I like. Last night, I was listening to The Sandman, which is one of my favorite audio books right now. I'm also visual though so I like to read manga. The list of books I've read this year is mostly either graphic novels/manga/comics or audio books. I feel less intelligent sometimes for not being as good at reading printed books anymore. It's like I used to be good, and then I 'leveled up' in other skills in art and audio processing? Haha...

Very interesting, I have a question tho. What's the difference between an auditory learners and verbal learners?
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie 11 ай бұрын
Hi, I also have a video on verbal learners, so be sure to check that out. But in general, verbal learners like to absorb information by talking about it. So they usually like group discussions or talking about the subject with a study partner. Auditory learners are listeners, so they like to absorb info by listening to a recording of a lecture for example. Talking vs listening is the main difference.

I'm definitely a mix between auditory and kinaesethic. Do you have any advice for teaching a group of people (15-20) whilst trying to balance these learning styles?
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie 3 жыл бұрын
My best tip for identifying a learner of any age is just to observe them while they try to memorize something. Notice if they say it out loud or close their eyes, etc. Ask them what strategy they used for memorizing it. If they're older kids (12+) I would show them the videos or explain to them the descriptions and ask them which they relate to the most.
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie 3 жыл бұрын
When teaching, just try to blend as many styles as you can. Always have a visual presentation to go with whatever you're explaining and try to incorporate a hands-on activity.

13:14 Hi Jeanette, My name is Dallas and I'm taking online courses for Business administration and I learned that I am an auditory learner and I also use both sides of my brain (analytic and global) do you have a video on an analytic and global.
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie 9 ай бұрын
Hi Dallas, I haven’t looked into global vs analytic learners specifically. There’s a lot of different paradigms around learning that have been developed, and I feel most of them overlap. It’s similar to how we have hundreds of different personality tests like enneagram, Myers’s Briggs, etc. They’re all slightly different but also the same if that makes sense.

Hi! I have become visually impaired. But I am very mch a visual learner. I am having a hard time concentrating on auditory books for instants. How do I train myself to become an auditory learner?
@SharpCookie
@SharpCookie Жыл бұрын
This is a great question! I'm also a visual learner, and I've never had an interest in audio books or podcasts. It's going to take some time to transition, since you're naturally used to absorbing information through visuals. One tip is to imagine in pictures what you're hearing. So as you're listening, imagine it happening in your mind like a movie. So even though your physical eyes aren't seeing anything, your mind is still connecting to visual input. Another tip is to experiment with when and how you listen to audio books. For me, I can listen in a car while I'm driving or when I'm traveling on a flight. But if I'm just sitting in my house, I get too distracted by other things and I tune out. My last tip is if you have a partner or friend who wants to listen to the same book, listen to it together. It'll help you to stay engaged and focused, and you have someone to discuss it with.
