It’s terrifying how easily one cop having a bad day can ruin your life. This isn’t an example of that, but it easily could have been. Though I understand the system makes it so that justice can only safely be found in a courtroom, what about the in between? What about the job you lose while you’re in jail? What about the fact that even if you are blatantly in the right, the courts are FAR more likely to side with a cop? It’s enough to keep you up at night if you let it, at least for me. As a side note, I believe it’s a dangerous precedent. If someone suspects they are being falsely arrested by someone pretending to be a cop, what do they do? Just go along with it crossing their fingers? Or risk jail time? It’s a choice no one should even have to think about.

The same way a cop at about the public and fear for their safety, the public should be able to act and defend themself in the exact same way a cop would, whenever you see a cop abusing their authority to unlawful arrest you and take you to jail and your life is about to get ruined you should be able to defend yourself against that Tyrant whose policing off ego because once he scared for his life he has no qualms taking out his service arm and unloaded getting into you, so what should be the law that should prevent the public doing the exact same thing to a cop when they try to abuse their authority to take away your freedom, Second Amendment right

“Justice is found in the courtroom, not on the street.” Comforting words for the frustrated citizen. So ...the police contact/traffic stop/arrest is the preeminent domain of the law enforcement officer; but, what about the accepted fact that the police officer’s ‘word’ has more weight than a defendant’s in court? Yeah, so did his supervisors and upon an internal investigation they found out this guy and the 2nd cop that was there were playing a game where whoever pepper sprays more people wins. The reason he is out of pepper spray is because he has already sprayed many others in a traffic stop. "wE aRe MisSiNg CoNtExT" is a bootlickers excuse for always trying to give the benefit of doubt to a cop. By your own theory then you should assume when the citizen continues to tell the cop to give him the ticket and let him go, by default that means the cop already has his information and he's telling him go write the ticket and stop telling me to get out of my car. The context is that this cop has had NUMEROUS roadside pepper spraying innocent drivers cases and this video bright on the investigation that finally got him FIRED and his buddy, the second cop CHARGED for unnecessary use of force for pepper spraying people "for points" in their own little secret game. Yeah, I've seen videos where cops repeatedly strike people in the face or about the head while screaming at them to put their hands behind their back and stop resisting which is absolutely absurd. The natural urge to react to such attacks by trying to shield one's self from the blows with your hands and arms is overwhelming. People have suffered severe and sometimes permanent injuries or even death because of being struck in the head repeatedly while being ordered to put their hands behind the back. But even less severe actions by officers such as grabbing can cause an instinctive reaction to recoil or try to shield one's self. I'm not saying it's okay to fight the cops but instances where someone just recoiled or jerked away for a second shouldn't always be grounds for charges of resisting arrest.

because that’s just human behavior, some people just aren’t prepared for a job like this. their authority gets questioned and they react with emotion, it’s as simple as that. another thing is people think it’s funny to antagonize police officers, if you ever noticed those situations either end in shootings or “abuse videos”. judge jury and executioner my ass, it’s not that deep people are just controlling. and to add to your statement, who the fuck said justice meant anything in this country anymore? pretty much all of our politicians are corrupt, we call them out constantly and nothing is done about it, a fuck ton of judges are in peoples pockets if they’re rich enough, even lawyers get bribed occasionally to purposely lose cases. there is no justice on a regular basis

No one is saying that it's okay for cops to act like that. Now if it's a physical altercation where the cop is defending their life or someone else's then that is where it is okay. The reason they say wait for justice in the courtroom and just comply is so you don't get any unnecessary charges added on or risk your life with an officer that is doing wrong. You can resist a false arrest for something that isn't illegal and you can still go to jail for resisting arrest. Whereas if you were just arrested and didn't fight the cops and it was deemed and unnecessary or unconstitutional detention you would be able to sue but you may lose that right if you fight the police or resist arrest hence fight it in the courtroom not the street.

The "Mimms" decision is the underlying culprit here. The Supreme Court gives too much deference to "officer safety" over the rights of citizens to be safe from unfair harassment by cops. Police work is not even one of the Top 10 most dangerous jobs. Because of these stupid Supreme Court decisions, cops routinely use "officer safety" as a flimsy pretext to harass citizens and escalate situations. Obviously, officer safety was not the real issue in this particular traffic stop. "Officer ego" was the issue.

@@truthseeker2126 that has nothing to do with the officer claiming he was scared for his safety when the car was at a complete stop lol. And if he was in fact only going 5 over...no he wasn't endangering anybody.

What a clown that officer is. I laughed so hard when he realized he was out of OC spray. He no doubt emptied the cannister on another uncooperative citizen.

“Resisting arrest is… obstructing an officer… in the discharge of their duty”. Key part being “in the discharge of their duty”. At the point where you’re escalating and pulling a weapon out for a speeding ticket you are no longer “doing your duty”

Wrong. The police have the authority to order you out of your vehicle, if you refuse you can be charged as the law requires you to get out. Just get out of the vehicle and none of this happens

But a weapon wasn’t pulled because of a traffic stop. A weapon was pulled because of the refusal to exist the vehicle, which the cop has the right to demand you do. I’m sure I’ll be called a “boot licker” for saying that but it’s the truth of the situation..

@@TotesAdorbs If an officer points their firearm towards someone with a big knife in their hand, who's threatening who? The deputy threatened to use their pepper spray since the driver refused to get out and the deputy suspected them of being a threat (they could hide a weapon, drive off, attack the deputy, etc). In case you don't know, it does happen quite a lot that officers are getting ambushed on traffic stops and the deputy had every right to order them out of the vehicle. Thus, the driver refusing to get out is acting suspicious by not getting out, adding to the deputy's perception of threat. At one point, police officers have to escalate their level of force in answer to the escalating level of threat from a subject.
