Very nice video. Very nice video. Can you please advise me what settings should I choose to listen background sounds clearly (wind, water, birds i.e high frequency sounds) in movies. Sometimes background music suppresses the background natural sounds. I have tried to raise the curve but has not noticed any difference. Your reply is highly appreciable. I have Marantz SR7013 receiver and mainly used for movies.

Good video, midrange compensation has nothing to do with the bass though. All about the smoothing out the harshness around the crossover frequency of most speakers. You use it if your speakers crossovers are around 2kHz. I know you just got new studf but i’d love to see you review some focal speakers. Im going to share my car system with you as soon as its finished. All focal speakers(except sub) and all zapco processing and amplifiers 😁. Hopefully you’ll come over to the world of car audio. Its alot harder to get it sounding right though

The built in amplifier software on my Denon amp said my front left speaker was out of phase, I checked it and the speaker terminal was loose (definitely not out of phase though). Quite impressed it found the fault. It would be interesting to know what technical reason is, that causes the app to flag an alert.

Nana O there’s an EQ in the denom and marantz receivers. If you do your audyssey calibration, you can turn off audyssey and copy over the curve to the eq and then tweak it from there. Its only 9 bands though. You’d be better off just using the audyssey app to adjust eq

Great vid. I've done the Audyssey calibration and it set my speakers all in the range of -6.0 or lower. I find myself having to crank the master volume on the amplifier much higher now to get the punch and presence I want. I am planning on using a decibel meter to make sure all my speaker volumes are equal (same db level using the meter). Here is my question: what would happen if I boosted all the speaker levels up to say -2.0 or even 0? Will it allow my speakers and amp to work harder and produce more sound, or will it also screw up my Audyssey-imposed room corrections?
@Kpaceguy

Doesn't matter how low your speakers go. It's recognized and even recommended by THX to use standard 80hz and set all speakers to SMALL. You really don't want bass coming from your speakers as it will be localized and boomy. Let the subwoofers hit those low frequencies. This is also coming from the Audyssey creators. Receivers tend to get these crossovers wrong. It is highly recommended to set it 80hz across the board and enable Dynamic EQ.
@nonametofame

Thanks for posting this video. I've ran numerous tests on a denon 4300 and on my current 7705. Here are some recommendations: set crossovers for all speakers to 80hz, minus your front heights. You can set xovers higher than audyssey settings but not lower. Also try setting your rear svs elevation speakers to 90 or 100hz. Note that there's a glitch that will set the fronts to 40hz, even after you upload your results to the Marantz. You have to manually go back into the in-reciever settings to change it back to 80hz. You might discover tons of bass coming out of your dual pb4000s after this.

Even though this video is pretty old, hopefully, you'll get a look at this. I've been playing with the Android version of the editor app and, while it's can be very good, there's one issue that may limit its usefulness for me. When running a calibration, if there's sudden ambient noise (car going by, dogs barking, plane flying overhead) there doesn't seem to be any way to cancel the current mic position and redo it. With Denon AVR's, Audyssey does allow you to cancel and redo it. With the app, I've had to restart the calibration from the beginning sometimes multiple times. Such is life in a typical residential neighborhood. Unless there is a way to back out of and redo a position, the app can be be very frustrating and too time consuming to be effective.

They have a pause feature in higher end equipment but auddessy doesn't do it
@MrNorcal81
@MrNorcal81 9 ай бұрын
@@Kpaceguy Thanks. Most of the Denon and Marantz AVRs let you redo an individual position and, apparently so does Audyssey MultiEQ-X (at $200) but the MultiEQ Editor cannot. As turns out , the editor app was created by Denon/Marantz and is not supported by Audyssey. I spoke to a Denon Rep today who confirmed that. I guess if you can get a relatively quiet 10 minute window to run a calibration, the editor app will work for you.
@MrNorcal81
@MrNorcal81 9 ай бұрын
@@Kpaceguy First, congrats on the new house. I just discovered that, with the MultiEq Editor, you can actually repeat the testing of a position. Let's say that you're in the middle of tones to position 2 and a car goes by or some other extraneous sound occurs. You have to let the tones to that position complete and then wait for the editor app to receive the results data from the AVR. Once that's done, Retest Last Position (or something like that) is enabled and you can run the tones again. The wait is a bit cumbersome but it works. The app also, after I believe 2 or 3 positions, lets you end the calibration and use however many positions you've done (most likely 6 instead of 8). So it turns out that the editor is much more functional than I thought.
