Never heard a performance like this. The two virtually melted into one. Much credit to the pianist whose curiously warm tender tone and endless line creates an supple enwrapping nest that holds the entire piece together which allows the violinist to be as free as he needed. Performance in the highest order.

Yes they work so well together. I was at college with Charles Owen and he was a great pianist then. Lovely to see he’s been playing with Hadelich, I’ve seen a few of their recordings together and they bring a new element to the repertoire which is an absolute joy.

Mesmerizing playing. Wonderful sense of dynamics and genuinely pleasant to watch. The facial expressions Hadelich uses are neither distracting nor unnatural, unlike many other famous performers. One feels concentrated on the music and the feeling being put into it, seeing the performance as more of an auditory experience than a visual one. It’s called tremolo, but in forte, and it’s not harmful for the strings. At least not more harmful than many other strokes. That said, after a long time of intense playing one’s strings do wear out ;-) it’s key to replace them from time to time…
