Not True! Hadelich is not the greatest! Hadelich his violin sound is awful like Black and White tv picture so colorless! Hadelich had bad technique and Hadelich is so restless and out of rhythmic balance! Hadelich would be out of the first round of Sibelius violin competition like awful Bomsori Kim! No prizes for Hadelich!!

Listen to this same piece at the Vail Bravo Music Festival. It's just a snippet, but the execution by the orchestra is more delicate and sensitive -- which complements Augustin's sensitivity much better. Magic!

I'm not quite sure what I just heard, but I have never heard this concerto played like this. I knew Augustin Hadelich was a world-class violinist from the first note - that was never in question - what I was not expecting was a performance that was so artfully sculpted and played with a level of nuance. It is usually the second movement, strangely enough, that I pay close attention to. First it was the falling notes at 22:56 - and then some where after finishing one of the phrases around 25:47, I could no longer hold it together and tears started falling from my face. The camera work was getting on my nerves so I closed my eyes, and perhaps, that helped me focus even more - but even still, I noticed that he played certain parts in an extremely understated fashion, thereby increasing the effect. The only thing I can think to compare it to is Chekhov. Chekhov can describe the most horrific events in the most deadpan fashion, and if you're really paying attention, some of his stories are heartbreaking and almost unbearable to read. This sort of happened in the first movement where I needed to stop the video to actually take in what I had heard. Man, I don't know what else to say. To say this was brilliant would be cliche.

Sorry, I have to ask this: You wrote about Chekhov. I think you might mean the famous Russian writer Anton Tšehov... Sorry if I am wrong. We in Finland might write his name also as Tsehov. I could say that his books are bigger than a life. I don't mean that he was like God, but I think you understand... (sorry my poor English) And I feel like you that both Hadelich and Tšehov have/had some extra understanding of the universe and of many aspects of our lives.
@dmp7252
@dmp7252 Жыл бұрын
@@TurmoilDot Ha. Please know that if I have the cultural wherewithal to even mention a writer as nuanced as Chekhov, trust that I know how to spell his name. I also speak Russian. However, in the US, it turns out that that is how his name is spelled. It is spelled that way in media, and on most of the books I have. Every now and then you will find books in the U.S. with alternative spellings, but the standard spelling in English is, indeed, Chekhov. Now, whether Augustin has read Chekov, I'm not sure. I can't say. His playing simply reminds me of Chekhov in the way that Chekhov's writing is understated yet shimmers with virtuosity and emotion, similar to Augustin's playing - it is on the one hand straight forward and simple, yet exceedingly nuanced at the same time. Hope that helps.
@rogerchen4525
@rogerchen4525 Жыл бұрын
Regarding your reference to Chekhov, I think it may be Mr. Hadelich’s…stoic, if you will….physical stance while playing even the most emotional passages that reminds you of Chekhov’s writing style. I always find that to be one of the most powerful aspects of his playing; I feel that excessive moving can actually take away from the intensity of music. I’m not going to pretend that I’ve read Chekhov’s works, but I think I understand what you’re getting at and I will certainly check him out in the future.

I don't know much about violin music. But i think this work takes more humility than any other. The soloist must be at complete service to the music. It's a hymn to the beauty of life in all it's beauty and cruelty as seen in a wintery landscape. But it's also an invitation to shallow virtuosity. An arrogant musician can't make it justice. At least that's my impression. Haven't heard Augustin H,;s version yet, listening to it now. His serious approach bodes well.
