Thanks for sharing the story and being respectful enough not to show the video. Here's hoping for a quick recovery for the construction worker and proper mental health care for the driver.

As a person who worked roadside assistance, calls along interstates or highways always increase my vigilance and the pucker factor is high. Esp that year 3 tow truck drivers died from inattentive drivers and drivers under thr influence.

Glad to know that you'll be back! I'm sure there's a lot of people that miss you and your good advice? Anyway you stay safe and stay safe out there and don't forget to watch your back! 👊

Traffic safety is not highly emphasized for construction workers. But they are required to wear. Hard hats and although I haven't seen the video I am certain that hat did nothing

The very same thing almost happened to me a few months ago. 2 lane road on comming traffic construction vehicles on my shoulder, speed limit was 55 I started slowing down from 55 as I approached the vehicles. All of a sudden a worker just walks right out in front of me not looking. I can tell you that is one of the most horrible feelings Ive ever felt. Im slamming on the brakes. In those instances I cant honk the horn because my hands have the grip of death on the wheel. My eyes are locked on the person. I cant swerve left due to on comming traffic and I cant go in the shoulder because of the vehicles. The trailer started bunny hopping and I think the noise that was making caused the worker to look up and see what was just about to hit him and he somehow jumped backwards out of the way. I missed that guy literally by inches. Oh my god I dont wish this happening to any driver. Even if it was'nt my fault and I did'nt get charged or anything. The guilt of knowing I killed a guy I dont know if I could handle that.

Please stay vigilant at truck stops as well. Crazy drivers think it's ok to race in to get a spot.

can't tell you how many times I have seen people zipping through construction, I had a near miss myself a construction crew stuck his head out. Fortunately for me I had enough time to come to a stop, society today needs to learn that speed is a killer. Those speed limit signs as you said are there for a reason and not as a decoration, one of the reasons I am trying to switch careers. People have gotten dangerous and rude out here and after 8 years on the road. I know I love what I did, just do without the stress on the road and its everyone out there. Not to mention politics and cost of living, trucking is not a good thing to get into at the moment :(
