So glad you got a chance to check these guys out. They have been my favorite band since their first album. Believe it or not they are a Christian band. If you go back and look at the lyrics to their songs they feature Bible verses and are very inspirational helping listeners overcome negativity in life, or to shine light on morality or tragedy. It is hard to notice by the heaviness of their sound but they are a very positive band even though they sound brutal as fuck! I'd highly recommend listening to the song Meridian (Live from Home DVD is an incredible performance of it) off-channel sometime, which is a mostly instrumental song with just a couple lines from Jeremiah 31- it's one of the most powerful and epic songs ever. On top of their lyrics, their drummer Matt Greiner is among the best out there with technicality, speed, and fills; and JB the lead guitarist writes the nastiest grooves while pumping out crazy solos in each song. I also can't help but acknowledge the composition of their songs - the arrangement and tempo changes are on a completely higher level of genius and the production and mastering of their albums couldn't possibly be any better. 10/10 best metalcore band in the game.

Also was told a story back in the day...not too sure if it’s real or not. I should look into it. But I was told that August Burns Red got their name from one of their ex girlfriends (August) setting their dog (Red) on fire. Found an old interview... tastemakersmag.com/interviews/2010/august-burns-red-interview/ It’s was the dog of the original vocalist Jon Hershey. His ex girlfriend burned down his dog house and the dog happened to be inside and died. The next day the newspaper headline read “August Burns Red”.
