Thank you for all of your videos! Would you be willing to do a video about how you handle your children's learning style challenges vs. disinterest in subjects vs. general reluctance to do lessons because they want to play video games or something else? 💗

Great suggestion! I will add that to my list. In general though I will say I am still figuring out learning styles, my son really likes and absorbs more from reading so I am trying to make his stuff more independent, where I originally wanted to do everything with him. as far as disinterest or reluctance on a specific subject, I don't think I have been through this yet. But they fairly often don't want to do school and then I make a to do list for them and when they finish that, they can do electronics or what ever. That way they feel more in control of their schedule and day. I hope that helps, I will make a more detailed video on it too!

Yes, about it being hard to find Children’s lit that is not middle grade, but more substantial than titles designed for early readers. I also appreciate Dart for this!

I thought I’d drop in and share what works for read alouds for both my 6 year old and 9 year old. We go for walks. Just on the driveway. Sometimes we listen to audio books and sometimes i just read while we walk. I started doing this when I would take my 1 year old out on a walk to help him nap. It’s been a game changer!!

I never would have considered that! Do you feel self conscious when people see you walking and reading aloud? That is what I would be most nervous about. Haha.

Oh my gosh! My husband is exactly the same as your son with auditory input messing up his comprehension. He can't retain/remember/comprehend information he's had to read aloud. He's slightly better being read to, but reading silently himself is the best way. If I read aloud, he needs a copy himself to follow along to keep his mind from wandering.

Oh good to know, I am glad we aren't alone on this. I might need to figure out getting him an extra copy to read aloud! Great tip!

I can try and do a video on it but in general I just have them pick an instrument to do and practice by following along with the video courses. You can print off other workbooks and things but right now we are just doing the videos and it works out well.

We started and then covid hit us on week 2 and 3. Week 3 was a disaster (I think I was pushing too hard because we were already "behind"). Week 4 was rough but that was because I couldn't get my act together. So we took this week off and will jump back into it next week. I think we took way too much time off for summer and it's hard finding our groove. I think I might need to do a time schedule and be very regimented until we get into a natural flow.

Oh I am so sorry, I hope you guys are feeling better, I am sure you are better off than you think. Trust me, life (and sometimes laziness) gets in the way of our homeschool All The Time. More than I would care to admit. haha. But I feel like it all works out in the end.

I definitely have trouble during read aloud, esp with my 11 year old. She is a constant interrupter. I will admit I get frustrated as heck sometimes. Probably should move our read aloud to a time other than bed time

Can you do an in-depth review of MCT? I am super interested in this curriculum, but have so many questions and there isn't a ton online...my kids ages/levels are very similar to yours! Since it's so pricey, I am hesitant to just buy it. Thanks!

Absolutely!! I will make a video as soon as we finish level 1. (we should finish next week) let me know if there are any questions you specifically want answered.

I am very curious about the Shakespeare book!! I would love to see a flip through. Does it recommend other books like read aloud or resources?
@LoveLearningEveryday

I will flip through it in my upcoming review of my Shakespeare unit. It does include some book resources at the end. I would say they are much more informational than typical fiction read aloud though.
