Tide and Punishment rated 5 stars from me. I’m participating in Series September because I love all books in a series. Cooking to Death sounds awesome. I need to read this one. I’m excited to see this is book 1 in a series. It is going on my “to buy” list for October. Secrets of an Amish Diary didn’t sound at all interesting to me. And then you reviewed it. It goes on my TBR. I have read both The Light Pirate (4 stars) and Where the Crawdad’s Sing (5 stars). I didn’t connect them until you mentioned how they fit together as atmospheric stories. Just thinking about these books sends me to a beautiful place. I saw Where the Crawdad’s Sing and went the next day to see the movies. Oh, wow, the scenery in the movie perfectly captured the scenery in the book.

Since you love the atmosphere and detective in the Seaside Cafe series then you should try Julie Anne Lindsey's other series under a pen name the Christmas Tree Farm series under the pen name Jacqueline Frost. The atmosphere and detective in this series are amazing as well. Along with many other delightful surprises. My favorite reads of August were No Paw To Stand On by Laurie Cass, A Cup of Flour, A Pinch of Death by Valerie Burns, and the entire Amulet graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi. I recommend all of them.

Thank you!! For addressing the overuse of foul language. I feel that too many authors overuse it . I'm not a prude but it totally takes away from the story. It's weak and lazy writing and bugs me no end. That said I loved The Midnight Feast. Lucy Foley is great.
