Bellissima interpretazione. Concerto sempre troppo poco eseguito, una vera meraviglia.

I saw him play this last night with the Cleveland Orchestra, and have the same reaction to this video as I did to last night's performance. That is that his virtuosity and feel for this concerto is unquestionable, but his sound rather small in comparison with others I've heard play it. I'm sure listeners smarter than I will tell me if I'm wrong.

When I played with orchestra it was always a struggle - it is very hard to balance it so that the soloist is always clear yet the orchestra isn't whispering. I think that in the case of this recording it is partly because of bad mixing. The conductor should always be very careful as it is so easy to flood out the soloist

Augustin, are you planning to record this concerto soon? I really eager to have this CD. I have been addicted to your Dvorak. Because of your playing, I actually have grown fond of Dvorak concerto.

Is pity that this concerto has much technical difficulties ,the end before cadenza is a little curious..all these string crossings..Of course I don't speak about the interpretation, just the concerto has not much character...is charming,but no more..
@2planksand2wheels924 жыл бұрын
popi toto I think that having not much character is a misconception, I think many people get caught up in the technicalities instead of the music, in my opinion Dvorak was not being very obvious with his intentions though they are very clearly there it just takes a master to interpret it and a very high level listener.

@@2planksand2wheels92 in addition to this, people should listen to Joseph Suk playing it with the czech philarmonia orchestra. For me this is the highest standard for this concerto. Unfortunately, the video with vaclav Neumann on youtube has a kind of default in the sound, however the interpretation of this piece is magistral.
