I converted to the Catholic Church and come from a very hardline Protestant family(grandfather is a baptist preacher). The more I learned about true history of the earliest Christians and the world they lived in just continues to blow my mind. I loved learning about the church but for me dealing with family members that believed very inaccurate information on Catholic teachings.

It's misleading to say the Protestant conception in some way implies that God isn't powerful enough to make us holy. In both the Protestant and Catholic conceptions of justification, the exact same things are happening: through repentant faith, the person is filled with charity and made new, but concupiscence remains. The Protestant says that concupiscence is mortally sinful, and thus the formal cause of justification cannot be the interior state but must be an extrinsic imputation, whereas the Catholic view is that concupiscence is itself not something we are culpable for, and as such, the presence of charity in the soul (which Protestants agree is present) is sufficient for the soul itself to be considered interiorly just. The difference isn't between God doing something more for us in Catholic justification versus God doing less for us in Protestant justification. As if, "grace is so much more amazing" in one verse the other. Rather, the difference is in God's legal assessment of the human condition. The human condition is the same in both conceptions - the soul is infused with charity but concupiscence remains - it is only God's legal assessment of that condition that is different. So if there is something "more amazing" about grace in the Catholic conception, it's that grace according to Catholic doctrine don't consider concupiscence mortal sin. The difference is a legal benefit, not some additional effect upon the soul.
