Chokes son till nose bleeds: "We did a great job parenting." Cuts open "cooked" chicken: "Look at that...pool, we did a great job." I'd say there's a pattern there. @zeroo_oone
@zeroo_oone 10 ай бұрын
I think there's a pattern but not the one you seem to think about. I think Jack just hates when he is not in control so he does what he does to his son (I really hope Garrett will be fine) and he can't stand failing in front of others which is why he always say his food is great when it's actually not. These two situation put Jack in a position where he is not in full power over events (his son doing things he disapprove and his cooking being awful and yet he says "oh it's great") and he hates it. Idk if it makes sense, English isn't my native language and I just woke up so it might not be very clear

He never said that tho. He said he doesn't know why he didn't fight back and proposed that it could be because of, "respect, love or fear", but he doesn't actually know the reason why. It could actually be any of those reasons. Even abused kids won't fight an abusive parent sometimes out of respect or love, but they usually don't put of fear. Being abused doesn't necessarily kill the love or respect for the abuser, sadly enough.

Jack's whole body language while bragging about choking his son was so odd. He was so cocky and smug about it. Also even if his child did put his hands on him and his wife, it's probably due to retaliation. When you grow up in an abusive environment you start getting fed up. Especially during teen years where you are developing more awareness. He decided to fight back and jack really sat here and said "he submitted" like what a sadistic way to phrase that.

100% iirc the context was that Jack and Tammy were "confronting" him about weed and his new friends (that he had to make cause Jack would kick him out of the house most of the day for 3/4 days he had custody). His son likely talked back, causing Jack's rage to fly off the handle and Tammy feeding off of it cause she hate's the kid as a reminder of Jack's first wife start screaming at him and berating him. Jack's son, seeking to find a way out of the situation puts on his shoes to leave. Tammy steps in front of the door to stop him from leaving so they can continue to scream and hurl abuse at him. He pushes Tammy, trying to get her out of the way of the door. Jack decides he's gonna show his kid that his paternal love doesn't stretch as far as his love for regular sex with his 2nd wife and that he's willing to kill for it.

Jack sounds scarily close to my step dad. Textbook narcissist, claiming he’s a fantastic guy who loves his family, did an excellent job raising his own daughter and 3 troubled step children, but would actively beat my brothers and verbally degrade us all. He never put his hands on me because he didn’t believe in hitting girls, but my poor brothers have literally been cornered and beaten senseless before. Because of my past experiences this was an incredibly hard video to watch, but I think it’s absolutely necessary for not only me but for everyone to see that just because someone has a “good” (I use that term loosely for Jack) reputation with the public, it does NOT mean he treats his children and family well at all, and is still capable of being an abusive monster.

As a parent I’m flabbergasted. My oldest is 13 and he tests the limits a lot. His dad and I can not fathom hurting him. Assault isn’t discipline . We are not perfect parents but at no point has him at his worst made us want to physically harm him, cut him off, play the victim. Kids are a forever commitment. You ride out the bad and keep being present and step up. Discipline is important but No child should be given up on and hurt.

@@mightymeatymech Honestly...no. There is one specific part I disagree with. "i wasn't her kid lol so she had no obligation to be kind to me" She had every obligation to. If you are not willing to treat someone's kids as your own when you marry them, _do not marry them._ The idea she had no obligation to you just because of no blood relation is absurd. She chose to be a part of the family, so, if you ask me, she effectively adopted you. Nothing is clear cut and easy, I get that, but being a step-parent is _zero_ excuse.

@@alwaysamongdragons7354 aww i appreciate the sentiment. it's true, i personally think you should be ready for someone's kids before you marry them. unfortunately our situation was complicated, i was 'troubled' and my dad would never acknowledge it. not saying i deserved some of the worst from her, but i definitely understand why i got under her skin. and some of it was just reactive abvse from her having to put up with my dad tbh. she's so much kinder to me now that she doesn't have to deal with that miserable excuse for a man. she had her moments of kindness back then too, that's why i knew she never wanted to be cruel to me. people make mistakes, but she's the only adult from my childhood who turned around and acknowledged hers. so maybe i tend to give her more leeway than i'd give myself if i were a stepparent lol. sorry so long, it's a complex situation. but yeah you're right.. idk i just feel bad for her because my father is a spectacular liar. she really had no idea what she was getting herself into when she married him and took me under her roof. she's changed a lot over the years and listened to me though, and i appreciate that from her.

Bro, this was my childhood minus the building computers thing. My dad and mom have been separated for as long as I can remember and I had to do the whole back forth broken home thing for years. My dad and stepmom were the strict parents and my mom was the “Disneyland” parent - their turn of phrase for her. He would beat the butter dog shit out of me, so badly at times that I would piss myself and he would just look at me disgusted. I couldn’t go to sleep till he got home, usually after midnight. My stepmom would check on me and let him know if I did pass out sitting at a tiny desk doing home work. And before anyone asks, I was 12 and under at this point. If I did fall asleep, I would get beaten. It got so bad that I wasn’t allowed to eat with the rest of the “family” and I had to do there dishes before I could eat a cold dinner hours later. It all came to a head when I was 14. When he threw to the floor and proceeded to choke me for not wanting to shake my stepmoms hand as they tried to get me sent to military school. The last thing I remember before blacking out was my stepmom screaming at him to get off me before he killed me. After which I had to go apologize to my siblings for getting choked. Shortly after that I was kicked out of the house and sent to my mom’s. And told he’d be back for me in 2 weeks. That day never came, what did come was the day they told me ever since I was gone the “family” had been so much better. I told my uncle about everything that happened and he was pissed. My uncle confronted my dad and wanted to know how he could do something like that? By the way, my dad, stepmom and uncle all worked with group home kids at the time. He wanted to know how he could do that when he works with kids. All my dad said was it’s different when it’s your kid. So my uncle became the father figure I never had and taught me everything I know now and I rarely talk to my dad, if at all. Sorry for the long story, just this jackass…I mean Jack kinda triggered me.

I don't know if it was entirely CPS... If he's divorced and they had joint custody, this whole incident would be enough for the mother to be granted sole custody. I've seen parents lose custody of their kids for much much less than this. At that point, if the child chooses to cut all contact with that parent, they'll basically never see them again. Jack is known for downplaying stuff, so my guess is there was a lot of contention with his ex over custody. Especially when he brings up disciplining the child, which may have been a argument he was using to try and be granted custody of him.

yeah when your child is too scared to do anything after being attacked by you and they would let themselves die if no one else intervened, this makes me think that you've instilled some serious fear into them for months, even years, you've basically overwritten their flight or fight instinct to be "I will listen to you, I will not stand up to you, even if you instigate the problem I will cower in fear", I know this from experience, and it's something that takes years to reverse, this may have been the first time it ever got this bad, but the mental abuse has been going on for a long time at least that's what I'm assuming. and seeing he's one of those whackos and his son did something that he doesn't respect him doing whatsoever, I find it much more likely this is the scenario.

I've heard "fight, flight or freeze" but just recently heard another model, "fight, flight, posture, submit" with an additional term for shutting down from being overwhelmed. Those are more descriptive of various self-preservation responses. I'm thinking a child who had to live with this guy would try to appease him as much as possible until he was so overbearing that they became frustrated from having zero privacy or autonomy, and that's what he's describing as anger issues.

As someone who grew up with violent family members on one side of my family, you definitely become desensitized to it really quickly. Kids mimic the behavior of their parents or guardians. My cousins would frequently get into fights when they were younger and their mom would always blame it on videogames. She constantly screams at everyone with every little minor inconvience and I've lost track of the number of times my cousins have been injured or denied dinner at her and my grandmother's hands. I was always the well-behaved child because my parents treated me like an actual person. And there is a point when you grow older and realize that it isn't okay behavior, which is what my dad realized. Jack's behavior is inexcusable.

I got tired of getting beat, and I'm the bad one. Long story short, it's been years since I last spoke to her. If you're in southern Asia, you'll get beaten for a small mistake. I also have hypocrites as parents, i hate to say that about them but it's true. They can be nice but only when you support them. In India, children are really physically abused by their parents all of the time, but the child is scared to talk to child support or talk back to their parents, an example is my cousin, he was burnt by his own mom because he didn't buy eggs when she ordered him to, it happened like 5-6 years ago, he wanted to talk to me and i immediately noticed the burn spots on his hands and legs (there were a LOT). I felt so bad for him. The same year, his parents and my parents started a feud and it's been a long time since I talked to him, i wish to talk to him again but I know I have no chance.

Pot causes higher levels of anxiety when you aren't smoking it, it doesn't make you violent. It might make your fight/flight higher when you're already in a high tense situation, but it will not cause violence out of nowhere. Clearly the father is to blame. The fact that he was willing to kill his son, and then he talks about the problem with his kid's violence? No. This man belongs in prison. Edit: Since this blew up a bit, just to add more in here: Some people are overlooking the line where I said "it does not cause violence out of nowhere." Out of nowhere is the key here. There has to be some extra variable in the equation. Obviously someone with a mental disorder that can lead to behavioral issues might have more of a fight response than a flight one. None of that excuses the way Jack treated his son. Nor was I trying to start a war about whether pot is good or bad (though I realize that was inevitable, it's a sensitive subject for some).

Jack reminds me of my dad, which unfortunately at this point means more than it used to. One of my few remaining memories of my father from childhood involved him bashing my skull with a length of piping, and i remember him bragging to his friends about it much in the same way he speaks to his family about it. Jack deserves and NEEDS to be in prison for his behavior, theres never "just one" incident like this, it is always a pattern of behavior and abuse. The damage to his family and children will be very long lasting, and as a survivor of very similar abuse, he will never change or even be properly held accountable unless it is brought to light in a court of law. I hope for the best for his kids, but I can tell you that all of what I'm hearing from Jack sounds exactly like my father, 20 years ago, and my father roams the world free of any kind of consequence for his actions. I truly hope, not just for the sake of Jack's kids, but for Jack himself, Jack goes to prison for what he has done and is held accountable for his actions.

What Jack is describing at 6 minutes as "destroying his son" when it comes to going from one home to another is because at his mom's house he was loved, in an emotionally stable and supportive environment. Then he'd go to Jack's and be abused for 4 days, staying in a place that is unstable, unkind, unsupportive and does not allow him to be emotionally expressive. Yeah, weird how going from feeling safe to unsafe every few days can destroy a person and riddle them with anxiety and stress they feel the need to seek drugs for. I mean, don't get me wrong, I totally get being disappointed when a loved one starts getting into drugs, but to say Jack went too far in response doesn't even begin to describe it.

The fact that he thinks "having everything you want" immediately equals a "good home life" is my first red flag. My siblings and I got a lot of the things we wanted, but were also abused and neglected for years. This guy is a huge narcissist and I really hope his son is okay these days. Breaks my heart.

Yeah, it's emotionally negligent. I sometimes wonder if I would have had a better childhood or even a better life if my parents were legitimately more attentive to who I was and if they exercised even the bare minimum amount of self-awareness, but that's not really an idea I try to entertain much.

Everyone needs to see this damn video. Too many people think Jack is just some harmless buffoon who's just a terrible cook, but otherwise harmless. He is a monster.

@@plankalkulcompiler9468 First time I've ever commented on an August video. I've watched maybe four of his videos. I've not made him famous. His personality and the ridiculous people that exist on the internet made him famous. Making fun of someone isn't a crime. Assault and attempted murder are crimes.

As a child I had behavioral issues. Generally kids with these issues were abused already and that’s why we act that way. Trying to hurt them back makes the problem 10x worse. My father also tried to kill me. I know the feeling.

My youngest son is diagnosed with Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and he pissed me off many, many times as a kid but I NEVER EVER laid a hand on him. I was "spanked" (belt, ruler) and I vowed I would never use corporal punishment on my children because it's ridiculous to use violence as a means to correct your child's behavior. Both my sons are courteous, respectful adults and I am proud of them both. You're right. Jack is a HORRIBLE person. 😡

there is a a differences in knowing your child has a mental illness, versus your child with no mental illness grabbing mother and pushing her up to the wall and threatening her . He was a teen he knew right from wrong , and if your husband boyfriend walked in , you wouldn't be leaving this comment
@mom42boys

@mjp5318 Except it wouldn't matter if a boyfriend/husband walked in while I was writing that comment. I would NEVER be with someone who thought that violence was appropriate as punishment. If his son has gotten to the point where he is being physically abusive against his parents, prior parenting was inadequate. Children learn 99% of their behaviors from observing their parents. It's obvious Jack has been abusive in front of his son so that's what he learned to do when he was upset about something. NOTHING GOOD COMES FROM VIOLENCE. EVER!!

@Luvpixle Jack Specifically stated his son held his mother against the wall threatening her .. and walked in and reacted .. How could you blame the guy ??? Its the principal of it, everyone is saying " Oh no this is horrible and sickening " but if it happened to them, I assure you their views on this situation with Jack would be different. No husband or boyfriend is going to let the woman they are in love with committed to be threatened and beat or laid hands on by anyone ..

@@mjp5318Did you even watch the video...? August explained all of this. First off, do you really think you can trust Jack. The man is bragging about almost killing his child. Secondly even if the son did push his mom against the wall obviously the answer isn't to try to f-ing kill him this isn't the 1500's. Thirdly the only reason the son would supposedly act like this, would be because of horrific parenting. So unless you're a psychopath, I don't see any reason for you to be trying to defend Jack.
