Auntie Ada Meets Kittens for the First Time!

Just to clear up any confusions about the family, Ada is Luna's granddaughter and so the kittens are actually aunt and uncles to Ada. But since Ada is so much older and bigger, it feels better to call her Aunt Ada in relation to the kittens. The fun little survey I did earlier showed that 87 % of you agreed 😸 And maybe "Auntie Ada" is even better! I should probably make a family tree or something to avoid misunderstandings 😅

'Auntie Ada' is the absolute proof of the fact that time flies way too fast. Yesterday, she was the first to get out of the kittens room by jumping above the fence!

I think that went really well! Auntie Ada got in plenty of investigative sniffs and looked more comfortable than Uncle Dexter did when he was introduced to baby Ada and her siblings. And all while still clearly deferring to Mama Luna like a good girl. This good result with new kittens is how we know she's fully becoming Buster's mini-me.

Ada did a really good job checking the babies out. And Luna was so good about it. She was even ready to play. That's a relaxed mama. The kittens are getting cuter and furrier-so adorable. Thank you! 💗

You wouldn't think this was Ada's first time being introduced to new kittens, given how well she handled it. Cautious but still interested enough in the little ones to have some sniffs and not a single hiss to be heard either.

Fascinating interaction between Luna and Ada. I want to resist interpreting it from a "human" perspective since they are cats and do not think like us but it almost appears as if Luna is "guiding" or "supervising" Ada's introduction to the new kittens in some manner. An animal behaviorist needs to study these videos. Cool!!!!!!

Ada was very assertive, strong willed and brave from tiny kittenhood. In this fascinating video, she shows that she hasn't changed. She's very determined to get close to Luna's kittens. Luna is not going to let her, but she protects her kittens in a very gentle manner. A textbook on cat behavior. Bravo!

Luna seems completely unconcerned by Ada's presence around the kittens. It is wonderful that she is so trusting. The little ones are nice and chubby ... is it possible that they're getting more milk because there are only three of them?

They grow about the same as other litters I have had. I think the mother gets an amount of milk that matches how much the kittens drink, regardless of the number 🙂

I was a little surprised to see this video in my feed… it feels so early compared to the other introductions you’ve shared with us! But I also have seen enough responsible cat owner and breeder practices to trust you to know your cats. Also very glad to see that Ada has a cautious but not fearful reaction to the new babies. A very good start if the long goal is for Ada to have litters of her own.

Aunt Ada was just a kitten a few months ago. Now she's going to be expected to babysit when the parents go out for a night to look at the refrigerator or relax on the couch in the living room! Investigative sniffing is a good start for the first day. I'd say Ada handled this very well considering that she hadn't seen a new litter of kittens before. Poor Dexter seemed a lot more unsure when it was him in her shoes.

I understand how often per year a cat can have kittens and that one litter could be by multiple fathers. I know Brock, Ash and Misty have one father. Luna had the same look on her face that Ada had on hers and that was adorable! Babysitting is best left to the guys...Buster and Dexter did a really good job. And I understand that cats do not remember being kittens just like we don't remember being babies. But I would like that family tree, please. And when did you get Galileo? Auntie Ada was much more at lost seeing the trio than Buster was seeing Ada and the rest! This was so cute. And Luna did look into the camera with a "She's not babysitting my litter!" Haha. P.S. Check out Spoonful of Ragdolls (here on KZbin) and notice how Hazel has a permanent list so you understand the order and things. (She had a cattery of Ragdolls so you have something in common with ancestry being very important.)
