You can twist the smaller tube first only because the anti-twist feature. In other boompoles, if you hold the bigger section and twist the last ring the other rings are going to twist as well. This is super frustrating and Auray have come to a pretty smart solution

at this point Im amazed on how there is no method for making the cable-shaking noise disappear. Some foam or fabric type insulation between the cable and the boom walls could do the trick I guess.

This was super informative and helpful to someone who knows absolutely nothing about being a boompole operator. This was like a crash course. Thanks! As part of your outro, you mentioned you also focus on lighting. Are there any travel-oriented RGB panel lights that you know of that are also tablet sized but do not require a large battery kind of like the Sony NPF batteries? Perhaps it has a built-in battery? I'm looking for something that fits into a 10L bag, preferably something flat, lightweight and hopefully can produce some relatively soft light. I'm not sure if this even exists but I've been looking for one lately.
