Been wanting a small short multisection boom pole. Ktek $250 6section boom pole was a perfect product, but I ended up just hacking a lowel kit reverse stand (yellow/brown one) removing the feet and that has been comically stellar. I only use it for one man band gigs where I have all my light stands (7-8 reverse stands) in a husky bag, so now my "boom pole" fits easily and a no brainer.

did you end up doing anything fun with the gooseneck setup
@GreggMcLachlan Жыл бұрын
I did try it on a shoot but it ended up being too awkward and wobbly. I think it's more suited for a very light LED light

Great Video. What kind of wireless mic did you use for this video on your jacket? Omnidirectional or cardiod mic?

It may have been a cheap Kimafun mic that I received from a manufacturer

So…how was the Neewer boom pole for you? Trying to decide whether or not to get it for my next film project.

does the mic stay tight on the neewer? Some other video shows it moving around. It was like it wasn't tight

I use mine as the permanent boom pole for my wind blimp and Deity Pro and the whole setup is very tight. Never have issues with it not staying tight

@@GreggMcLachlan some guy in the video shaking the boom pole to make noise I guess. It was wobbling like he didn't have it tight. I like the twist locks on the Neewer. Thanks maybe I'll buy the Neewer

@@GreggMcLachlan I need one for interviews and some films where the boom might go back and forth towards people who are talking. Do you think the Neewer 7000 will hold up for that work? The guy in the video was trying to make noise.

we need a solution for our church when an audience member wants to comment, the usher will hold the wireless mic for them (so they're not handling the mics). Could any of these options work for this type of use? the reach would be considerable up to 6 or 7 feet (for when they're far into the row of the pew)
@GreggMcLachlan2 жыл бұрын
The Neewer extends almost 10'

Good basic overview of each. I agree that the Rode locks are... a lot less desirable. I'm glad that you say you can't say what kind of boom pole to get. I always say - the wand chooses the wizard and the boom pole chooses the boom op. A couple of corrections. You don't need to strap a cable to the boom. Secure the cable to the microphone head end of the boom, hold the cable at the butt end of the boom and then twist the boom around a few times. This pulls the cable tight to the boom yet still allows you retract the boom as needed quickly. What kinds of booms do I use? Mostly Ambient QS, QSM and QP-5150. I own 16 boom poles and all of them are premium except two cheaper ones that I can't stand. On my channel I do a lot of pro sound topics. Check it out if interested.

That's a great tip about twisting the pole! Way faster 👍
