Friends - 50 year old dude here growing up with prog and alt rock - and I discovered this genius while studying in Bergen (her first announced little snippet live I think). In every Aurora concert there is a huge gang of dudes like us hanging out in the back nodding to each other. Knowing we in general have Tool on our play-lists - old school Bowie, some of us probably have encountered Prince and Bjørk and such mainstream outliers in our past. Black Metal must be mentioned. Some of us may have discovered fusion-jazz and stuff, some Crandberries - some of us may have dipped toes in the old-school Rave scene back in the 90s - even "brainy electronica" and pure classical music may have been involved as casual or deep listeners of music as we grew up. We form an eclectic group of grown-ass dudes in her concerts - behind her much younger fans who emote more than us (on the outside at least). I tell you - these back ranks of "us" is probably the finest concert experiences I have had. None of us have to defend why we are at a concert with a "young pop star" behind some thousands of emo kids sharing their every emotion loudly. No lifting of eyebrows are needed to indicate "had to take my kid - you know how it is" type daddy communication is needed. Just some hundreds of grown ass men being there because we "got her" for some reason. it is a really cool place to "experience".

@Soonmush Aurora is too stubborn to let the music industry ruin her soul. I just watched a documentary where Aurora and her manager, Geir, are dealing with a roomful of record company executives. They played those executives like a drum, Aurora playing the wide eyed innocent good cop (but if you squinted you could see how shrewdly she was working the crowd), and Geir playing the grumpy bad cop. She's the embodiment of the traditional young female archetype, that feminists hope, above all else, to destroy forever, because it doesn't resemble a man. It's what you all long to be, in your bones, in your breath, in your blood and sinews, in your DNA: to be unabashedly, honestly female, and admired for it.
@gabriellee67705 жыл бұрын
brindlebriar Thing is, there is no real truth to the statement “feminists hope, above all else, to destroy [anything in particular] forever,” because there isn’t ONE feminist “hope” or view of life, or wish to destroy one thing over another. If there is one agreement on destroying something (and I don’t think there is), perhaps it would be any demand that all women be one way vs. some other way. Self-described feminists don’t all think alike or want the same thing. Perhaps, though, what many of us who may label ourselves “feminist” want is freedom to make our own choices about what we can do with our lives, how we can dress, how we look, and how we simply get to be, as women. One thing that strongly impresses me about Aurora is that she seems authentic and free in how she expresses herself, from her singing and writing to how she moves while singing; from dressing to personal grooming (sometimes she has visible hair under her arms, sometimes she doesn’t); from whom she kisses in her videos (and in her life, I hope), to what she discusses in interviews. From what I can tell, she’s the embodiment of herself. In 10 years, she may/most likely will be very different in how she expresses herself, and I hope she will do so freely and authentically then, too.
@brindlebriar5 жыл бұрын
@@gabriellee6770 There is an overarching agenda which the average woman doesn't fully understand, but that is pushed by the pushers of feminism, the speakers and writers and teachers. It is to shame motherhood, wife-hood, to claim girls and boys are the same. To _push_ women, through the mechanism of social ideology - not through self-contemplation of their own internal compasses - into the work force, to become wage slaves, no better than men, and no less masculine and miserable. No longer cherished, no longer on a pedestal. No longer sacred. The effect upon people who buy into that is great unhappiness. After all, boys and girls _are_ different, so women trying to live masculine lives are, on average, below average at it, compared to men. Since time immemorial, the home and the children have been the province of women, whereas the world external to the home, and the monsters in it, have been the province of men. The home is the womb of humanity, and the spear/staff is the phallus of man, the magical tool. It puts life into the woman, to nurture and grow, but it kills the beast and plows the field, in order to put calories, and thus Life, again, into the center of woman, that she can shape into humanity. Man has tamed nature to such a degree that now women can participate in the higher levels of the structures of income earning - far removed as they are from actual killing and plowing - without getting hurt. But in so doing, they give up the sacred work they were doing, the growing and raising of humanity. Children have parents to speak of. They're raised collectively by the television and internet, but there is little empathy there to be acquired. Little humanity. Little spirituality. Just materialism. The result is a very non-aurora like population. When I was growing up, all little girls behaved like Aurora, to some degree. I remember my sisters and their friends were the same. Each individual, of course, but with femininity in common. When I saw this interview, this celebrity reminded me of them. Now they are taught that they must be income earners like the men, and to hell with the children. Let them fend for themselves. Let the government schools raise them. And the cartoon network. Those pushing this agenda have such a low opinion of femininity and motherhood, that they don't perceive that much value will be lost in so doing. And that is why they seek to destroy it, in favor of 'equality,' by which they mean 'sameness.' But men and women are not the same. If there were, there would be no reason for us to exist, other than bland and soulless materialism. Because the meaning and purpose for the masculinity of man is to serve the femininity of woman. And the meaning and purpose for the femininity of woman is to grow, nurture, serve the masculinity of man. Thus, each serves itself by serving the other. And they are not equal. The woman is superior to the man. The man is in charge of calories and safety, and the woman is in charge of the children and the comforts of all. The woman is _superior._ But it is her femininity that makes her so. She loses all of that when she tries to become masculine. When you modern princesses decide that you want to become the King too, think again. Because for every king, 10,000 men struggled and died trying to become the king. That's what you step into when you step off the pedestal. And you will be torn to shreds, with your little, soft bodies and your nurture-oriented minds. It's craziness. Of course, I'm using metaphorical language. Men go to work to provide for women and children, so that they can have the pleasure of their company. We don't need comforts the way women do; a man can be content to sleep it a ditch and wear the same dirty ragged clothes every day, and eat simple fare. We're rugged. We do all that we do that fills the world with comforts for women and children. If they are taken from us, we'll eventually stop working. Cause work ain't worth just the material gadgets. Those are for _you_ so that you'll sleep with us and bear us children. And for the children you bear. For a few talented women to have artistic careers, showing their talents to the world, hopefully managed by men so that they have time for their _own_ children and families - that's a wonderful thing. But when women in mass are pushed into the work force outside the home, to spend their days in offices and restaurants, miserably competing in the male rat race while the children are abandoned to public child-care institutions, our species can not withstand that for very long. We're resolute, and it takes time for men to unlearn the sacredness of women once women have stopped being sacred. It takes a few generations. And we are at that time _right now_ when men are unlearning that ancient, instinctive, biological, chivalric code. First, they walk away from women, from responsibility for them and the children they bear. Next(this hasn't started yet) they'll walk away from work. If women want to do it, let the women do it. You see, men work so that women won't have to; so that they can have the fruits of labor without doing the labor - so that they can nurture the children and be the place of comfort for us, the softness, the bosom, the womb. That's why we do the work, to provide the calories, so they can be women. If women are gonig to abandon the children, or not have them, and abandon us too, we might as well stop. Cause most work is fucking miserable. Idk why women think they want to do it, like it's some kind of privilege. OR, men may simply decide to put a stop to this whole anti-femininity 'feminism' campaign. We can stop it at any time. Men have a natural reluctance to stop women from doing what they want to do. That's part of the pedestal; you let them be free and whimsical like Aurora. You provide for them the opportunity, and let them steer themselves. So when women decided they wanted to vote and become wage-slaves and wear pants, and even abandon the children and us, we let them. But there's a limit. When enough men realize that we are allowing women to harm themselves, the children, and us, on a misguided whim of misunderstanding, we can end it all in an hour. And we will, because that's our job. So that _you_ can be like Aurora again.

I've been at their concert a year ago and I'm so grateful it happend. She reminds me of my mother a little bit, she wanted to be a singer too, she was delicate and sensitive but unfortunately bad things happend and she had to change and work hard for our family. I cried at that concert and it was beatiful.

Aurora Aksnes doesn't belong to any genre or is subject to any form of musical limitations. Her music is so incredibly unique and beautiful that I can barely believe that her songs are actually real.

I dont understand why people hate Aurora's armpit hair, or anybody's armpit hair. It's not like you have to lick it up and down, let people live how they want to! Because at the end of the day, its just hair 😉

@Zeus Core Armpit hair itself does not contain a bad smell. Any smell from your armpits comes from your sweat glands. Shaving your armpit hair doesn't make your armpits smell better. The best thing you can do is to shower/wash your armpits and wear clothing that isn't restrictive and is of breathable material.
@Eden._.garden4 жыл бұрын
Oh I didn't notice she has armpit hair. She's very blonde so it can't be seen much. Also armpit hair doesn't smell if you wash it often and just apply deo

I will always believe Odd Martin Skalnes is the only guitarist/vocalist that could have brought out the best in the songs, and Aurora herself. They had "it". Whatever "it" is. I believe Odd had a lot to do with Aurora finding her musical voice and gaining as many fans as she has, as fast as she has. BUT , the new guy has grown on me these past few months. Starting with the Lollapalooza Brazil show. I think he's coming into his own, finding his place in the songs. He'll never be Odd Martin, but that's not his fault.

Found out about this artist right here and now, and I must say, I was _absolutely taken away by this performance_. Watching it over and over, can't get enough! In contrast I don't mean to complain, but I was sad to find that the album versions of these song didn't have the same authentic sounding spirit, intensity or sound at all. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that this simple but powerful way of arranging songs is something that will carry on into the recording studio from here on. Best of luck to the performers
@scotiabushcraft95706 жыл бұрын
You should definitely watch the Nidaros Cathedral concert, it's with an orchestra. I think it will be remembered as her best work. And I agree with you about the arrangement, acoustic and orchestral is better in general and works much better with her spirit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jom5qHmsoLOHe8k

See her live my friend, it's one of the most beautiful things. I took someone who'd never heard a single song (Aurora was at a festival in Hungary) and my friend's jaw hit the floor, and she told me afterwards 'that was one of the most intense, spiritual experiences of my life'.

@@BrandonPetrucci I'm...lost? How is my response that you were being rude with an unnecessary comment "proof" that there is no God?
