Aurora on Records In My Life (interview 2016)

We had a quick meeting with Aurora backstage at the Imperial Vancouver wherein she discussed a few of her favorite albums, from Norwegian artist Ane Brun, thru A Perfect Circle. She was greatly enthusiastic talking about her favorite music and highly emotive telling us about what appealed to her.

Great interview! Shes' got a really interesting array of influences, from Cohen to Gojira. Some interviewers seem to come across far too much like they simply find her querky, and miss the depth of her expressive sincerity and genius. I liked that this focused actually on her musical input.

I find it hard to picture her angry.

Heh...yep. but you should watch the documentary called "Once: Aurora." It chronicles the transition from touring her first album to making the second. She was quite stressed and unhappy a lot of the time and had to kinda learn on the fly how to be more assertive and stand her ground. And there's definitely moments where she's angry. Not like screaming, but definitely steaming lol. It's a pretty intense doc. There's one scene where she has a full on nervous breakdown in her dressing room bathroom and is chugging wine from a bottle to calm her nerves. And then her tour bus gets mobbed by some intense fans. It's quite a ride.

She’s so beautiful all dressed up in her spontaneity; no makeup at all…even her face asymmetries tell that those are the cheekbones every sweet women lover would like to kiss. She’s such a cute young woman.

Tomorrow never knows explain a lot about her perspective of life and I 100% agree with that. And how strange that she's influenced by artists I could never listen to (except The Beatles) yet her music surrounds my life 24/7. She is like a living music mixer. Just put some random ingredients in this super sweet mixer and what comes out will blow your mind away.
