"I wonder if that means something", with Aurora it ALWAYS mean something 😆 Rewatching for the YT algo 😄

Aurora uses the moth cocoon to represent evolution and change. The robot drones were programmed by the team at Carnegie Mellon Uni and the lighting used allows Aurora to dance beautifully.

Winter Bird. My very first Aurora song. I feel like I want to share a little on how I got to know Aurora and her music. So, one fine many many years ago, back when Winter Bird didn't even have a music video, I was movie trailer surfing on youtube when I came across one called Equals, I think. In the background of this trailer, was Winter Bird. I was instantly hooked on the song, I replayed the trailer so many times just to hear the song. The worst part was, the song title or artist wasn't credited anywhere, whether in the trailer itself or the video description. It wasn't even in the comments. I had to scroll down so far into the comments before I finally found one single comment that mentioned the song and the artist. Aurora, Winter Bird. And from there...the rest was history. Or so I'd like to say but I didn't truly get into Aurora until much later. However Winter Bird did become a permanent fixture in my playlists and I became interested enough in Aurora that I kept tabs on her career. Even without actively listening to her music, something about her was just magical. Over the years more and more of her songs or covers ended up in my playlist until I finally decided to deep dive into Aurora about 2 years ago. Best decision ever. It's amazing to see how far she's come and I'm so excited to continue following her for however long she keeps going. On to the video itself, since I first heard it before it had a video, it definitely wasn't what I expected. I thought it was about grief somewhat, so yeah the whole drones thing was confusing. But the video itself is absolutely beautiful. Probably the most beautiful. And that's my Winter Bird and Aurora story haha. If you've read this far, thank you! Now moving on to Queendom!

There’s a making of video that shows how hard it was for the engineers at the University to get the drones to move correctly. Apparently Aurora and her team came up with the idea of having the drones circle around the cocoon structure.

Yes, as I recall, they said that normally technology inspires the music video, not the other way around. I imagine it was fun for them to have this challenge.

Great reaction. There is a behind the scenes video of the making and production of this video (KZbin won't let me link it here) that is well worth watching. Search for Aurora Winter Bird behind the scenes (duh). The drone footage is especially interesting.

Even if it looks like it through the video, it's not just about a cocoon in the broadest sense. If you listen to the lyrics and know how true poetry works, you know that it's about depression and find a way out of it. My tears are always frozen. You're stuck in depression. Winter is the time of year when depression strikes. You sink into your thoughts. Everything Aurora sings describes depression. The best clue is provided by the last sentence. You need to remember how it was to be alive. The cocoon in which Aurora stands are the four walls in which you bury yourself, your apartment and your thoughts. The drones keep locking you in with the paper until you are completely isolated from the outside world.

This song really made me realize how good Aurora is a writing a hook. Plus, her face is so expressive at times, I'm surprised someone hasn't asked her to act in a film (yet). I think that one of these days someone will ask her to score a whole film.

Nice! Great video and one of my favorites from her first album. From what I gather about depression and isolation. I've seen some wondering if she gave the drones (and technology) a role in that as well. Isolating us from true interactions. I've heard her more than once recommending her er fans to take breaks from social media now and then, so maybe 🤔😄

Hi there, dear Ashlena... YAY ! Finally I see you wearing your hair different... the ponytail looks very nice on you. And without the scarf, your hair shows its full beauty... and those big glasses give you an intellectual "touch", in my opinion. 🙂 But apart from that, your reaction to this wonderful music video (one of her very best, considering the aspect of art) was wonderful as always. What album do you have on the side desk ? The cover looks so interesting. See you in your Queendum music video reaction.... Best wishes : Gerry

Enjoyed this. Red hair like Billie now! and your Billie shirt. You know, Billie says as a young girl, in her bedroom, watching AURORA's Runaway video and it motivated her to want to be a performer. Of course, AURORA modestly brushes this off and says Billie & Finneas are so talented. Billie, AURORA, and the French star Christine and the Queens are my top 3 musical artists.. Thanks again..

I don't know how deep you want to go with Aurora on your channel, but I hope you keep Aurora Tuesday until you have seen it ALL. Including interviews, short clips , documentary's and old videos. Aurora is not just an extremely talented artist. She is in my opinion such a beautiful soul as well. I'll link to some of my favorite footage of Aurora. Her first time on TV: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWPVfmObmLeIh80 (she is so cute & nervous) The clip of her 10th grade graduation. (this is how she got signed by a music producer) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX62aJyXrZ2kr6s Both interviews from Australian Triple j: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJa3ZJZnfcd3jpo kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6C8mIWbe7ykaMU Her first festival in Norway. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3fVfGaHnLekfKs (She performs many unreleased songs here) The song she wrote and performed at the funeral for her classmate. Aurora will never sing that song again, but the mother of the girl that died wanted all to hear it, so she posted it on FB. Aurora fans later made a music video to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/raO0i3mujKZge7M (If you react to this on your channel.....make sure you have some tissues.)

@@ashlenamusic Thanks for responding :) Forgot to say that I really love your reactions to Aurora. I basically spend 30min-1 hour each day before bed to see how others react to Aurora, and you are one of the best out there. Aurora changed my life. I never knew music could give me so much emotion. Aurora is a genius. She plays not only music..she plays with your deepest emotions like an instrument. And it is sooooo liberating for an old guy like me that have bottled up emotions for years to get to FEEL the music and have a release of emotions. It has really changed my life for the better.
