FAST AND EASY WAY TO CLEAN ALGAE OFF FIBERGLASS BOATS

Green Genie
I want to get the crap
off the bottom of my boat
without killing myself.
Green Genie,
I don't want to choke
on those horrible
bottom cleaner
fumes
Green Genie,
planet earth is my home.
Don't hurt my home (planet).
We're at Campbell's Landing Marina
in beautiful
Lake Muskoka, Canada.
Campbell's are a green marine
and are constantly
looking for ways
to be even more environment friendly.
They have been using Algae Strip
to clean their customers boat bottoms
for decades.
It's a top rated biodegradable bottom cleaner
but it's acid based
and gives off smelly,
choking fumes.
They wanted to know if
Green Genie
would work as well.
Green Genie
is made from organic salt
so there's no fumes or smells
and it's a greener product.
This is the boat that they challenged us with.
Nasty
We asked when the boat was last cleaned and were told that
they had no record of it ever having been cleaned.
This boat has had years of growth and stain
imbedded into the hull.
It's on there like bark on a tree.
This is going to be a real challenge
for Green Genie
Not everyone has a wash rack
like Campbell's Landing.
If your boat's on a trailer,
you need to get it up,
off the bunks
to clean the entire bottom.
There are instructions on how to do this
in the trailer
at the end of this video.
There are two ways to apply Green Genie.
You can either pour it into a garden sprayer
and spray it on, or
apply it with a paint roller.
Spraying Green Genie is faster,
but you use more product
When you use a paint roller
to apply Green Genie,
there's no overspray
and less dripping,
so you use less product.
Allow Green Genie 20 to 30 minutes to work.
Agitating it with a brush helps
to loosen up the marine fouling.
Now you can rinse it clean
with a pressure washer
or a garden hose.
If you use a garden hose,
you may need some help
from a scrub brush
Use Boat Scrub
and a Marine Power Mitt
or a rag
to wipe away
any remaining scuff marks
or stains.
And, once again,
Green Genie delivers
on its promise.
A clean hull.
No choking fumes.
No damage to the environment.
Look
at the difference.
Do you remember
how nasty
the bottom of this boat was?
Even though it's clean now,
the hull of this boat is in pretty rough shape.
You can see
that it's covered in osmosis blisters.
Even some of the gelcoat
is starting to delaminate
and fall off.
If the owner
had protected the bottom
with VS721 Bottom Coat,
this damage
would not have occurred.
This older boat
has just had its bottom cleaned
with Boat Scrub
and protected
with VS7221.
The bottom looks like the day
it came from the factory.
VS721 is cheap insurance
against osmosis blisters,
plus
it really improves
the boats performance.
