This might sound unhinged, but the most thoughtful thing in the entire printer may very well be the straps used to lift it out of the box. Despite all the nice features, that might be the one I like the most.

Thank you so much for this review! I saw another review video come up on my feed and I knew I had to search for your review. We are looking to add a laser machine to our makers' studio and your reviews have helped us in the past to make good choices.

That conveyor makes it pretty versatile! I was only considering CO2 until now, so this is very interesting! Cheers!

We have a Glowforge Pro, it struggles to do some of the things done here, and plain cannot to others. We don't even use the passthrough because it's such a pain to use. It's done well over the years but when it finally dies I'm happy to know there are more affordable and capable machines on the market to replace it.

Great review as usual. I agree with you that it did come up short with working area width of 18" instead of 24". Most of my big pictures are 22". For $3K complete, it's a nice deal.

Dear Aurora, thank you for you review. I think it would be a good idea to acquire a power meter (Watt meter) to check the specification. In my opinion, often a Chinese Watt is less than an US Watt. Thank you. Kind Regards Albert

It's great to see diode laser cutter/engraver systems offering features previously found on CO2 lasers, while also providing low cost options for the occasional user who may only need to do some engraving on small objects. The XTool software is very powerful but is only available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android - NO LINUX FOR YOU!

I liked your video presentation. I would like to know if the S1 40W can cut through 0.8 mm thick aluminum or even stainless steel?
@AuroraTechАй бұрын
I don't think it can. You might want to consider a fiber laser if you're looking to cut thin metal.
@randomtvninja Жыл бұрын
Maybe its your calmer demeanor, but other reviews I've seen make the Xtool out to be a mircle worker, but it didnt do so well in some of your tests, or maybe im reading way too much into thr "alright". Yet you've said this is now a #1 laser engraver for you.. I guess the question is, who should buy it? How much of an all rounder is this device. Especially if someone is willing to spend that amount, which by far isn't the most expensive pro-sumer price but isn't the cheapest either.

Excellent review. However you didn't put the finger on the most painful spot of this machine, the lifetime of the diode gun. Kudos.

Great video! Two questions. One: how does the cutting speed compare to the P2 55 W? Especially with something like quarter inch ply? 2: how well does the air assist work at keeping smoke out of the room with the conveyor? If I were just to use the smoke scrubber inside a house would the conveyor not be a good option anymore?
@AuroraTech6 ай бұрын
The P2 55W is better in every single way. Exhausting the smoke outside would be a much better option.

It baffles me why they didn’t add a camera like on the M1. And with the M1 you can’t upgrade the laser.

It was in my opinion a stupid decision not to include a camera and the reason why I am not buying one. And don't believe their excuse of costing too much to add.

We are looking into buying one and will need to engrave metals, such as tools. I saw your video on the F1 that it worked just fine, but you did not show that in this video. Is this machine capable of that?

This machine is equipped with a 2W infrared head. You can use it just like the F1.

As a diode laser, it cannot cut through transparent or reflective materials unless you use a marking sticker or paint to make them dark.

@johndoe6032 Жыл бұрын
It was pretty underhanded of xtool to eliminate the 40w module for the D1 just to upswell people to this machine. They’re already very overpriced when compared with other quality lasers. For that money I’d rather just spend a bit more on a budget CO2 or spend half as much for the Ikier K1 Ultra 48w laser.

They crippled the laser by not including a camera.
@Barbasnoo6 ай бұрын
I disagree. I own 4 lasers, including the S1. And the framing system it has is actually reeeeeally precise. Moving the tool head to specific spots to mark your work area is absolutely spot on accurate. Don’t get me wrong, and camera would be nice, especially to be able to keep an eye on longer jobs. But in no way does it cripple the S1. If you owned one, you’d understand. I was initially concerned too - but once I used it, those worries quickly went away.

from my opinion it is very expensive and with this price i can get CO2 laser that is almost better in everything
