Love your work very informative. A wiring diagram would be great thanks.

Hi Marc, I’ll post a link to the Enerdrive diagram. You can buy the push button Enerdrive switch if you want, any Enerdrive dealer can order it in. On the wiring diagram, it’s the green circle 🟢 The enerdrive switch has an LED in it that is off if the batteries are in shutdown state and on if the batteries are active. Personally, I didn’t want as led that was always on to I used a different automotive switch. Wire three in the diagram could be left disconnected to disable the led but the switch I used only has 2 terminals, so wire 1 and wire 2 is all that is required. As you can see from the diagram, one wire goes from the vehicle input positive terminal to the switch and then the other side of the switch goes to the caravans positive battery terminal on the DC/DC charger. This would work on on any DC/DC charger, you would just need to identify the correct terminals on whatever brand you have. enerdrive.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Adventurer-ePRO-1.pdf

Brilliant Craig. We got caught out recently with this. Had to run an Anderson to Anderson extension lead off the tow vehicle direct into the fridge circuit. This woke our batteries. Will be doing this switch mod though as it’s a lot easier.

Cheers 🍻 we like things to be easy, having a jumpstart right there on the switch panel certainly helps 👍

So if I want to setup this switch as my "wake up" unit and I do not have the Enerdrive unit with the extra + connector, how would I set up that switch? I run the energy 50 DCDC unit and my starter battery cables run straight into that (via fuse of course). Meaning where would my "power in be connected to?

With any DC/DC charger, your jumper switch is simply going to link the alternator positive input terminal of the DC/DC charger to the positive 12V output terminal of the DC/DC charger (the caravan battery connection. Looking at the manual for the Renogy 50, you would add your jump wire to the “IGN ALT+” terminal then run that to your momentary push button switch, then from the other side of the switch to the “OUT+” terminal of the DC/DC charger. When you push the switch, you will bridge your starter battery directly to the caravan battery(s) which will wake the BMS if it’s in sleep mode. The DC/DC charger will then see the connected battery and will start passing charge current from your vehicle battery/alternator. You really only need to press your jumper switch for a second or two and the whole system comes to life.
