The Vindicare change feels like one of those things that's going to have a fairly negligible effect on tournament games where having LOS to shoot more than 20" means someone messed up badly, but be massive on casual FLGS tables where there's three buildings and a tree to go around and Steve has nicked the tree.

I think all that's left is for them to do is something daft like another new phase, a new type of unit class with unexplored rules (like superheavies or aircraft in the past), or to bring out a "ignores feel no pain" rule, followed by a "adds a further saving throw against weapons that ignore feel no pain".

Hmmm so correct me if I'm wrong, the Vindicare CAN ignore Lone Operative but it CAN'T ignore abilities that are similar to Lone Op right? For example if Shrike is leading a unit of Vanguard Vets, Shrike/the unit cant be shot at if more than 12inches away, because the unit is not using the Lone Op rule---they are using Shadowmaster. There is quite a bit of units in different armies that have abilities like that, such as Custodes, Tyranids etc. I'm not saying it's going to be a big deal or anything but there will 100% be circumstances where an Agents player is going to be pikachu faced when the Vindicare cant shoot a unit

They're canonically the foot soldiers of the Inquisition. They're not really imperial guard. They're a special unit essentially raised from early childhood to be Inquisitional retinue.

Tbh all Precision ranged weapons should be able to hit lone operative units/models. I dont know of any sniper units being played competitively rn, outside of scouts, and that isn't because they have snipers.

Imperial assassins are carefully selected for their mission, not just randomly thrown against unknown enemies. If the points greatly increased (doubled?) for 1 Imperial Assassin but you didn’t have to choose which one until you saw your opponent’s army, would it be worth?

Imperial Assassins can also be put under the command of an Imperial military leader, should he request it. It's just the fact that justifying this request is very difficult without a proper reason which makes this a more or less rare occurrence. Just like Callidus Assassins might not just get assigned a target to kill, but an entire organization to infiltrate and take over. Taking out specific targets is the bread and butter of the Officio Assassinorum, but it's not their only capability.

I regularly take the Vindicare for my Agents Boarding Actions because our range options are terrible. Was already planning on taking him in my Imperial Navy detachments because I have a feeling it'll be the same problem: we won't have anything else with a high strength/AP to fire with! I get as an Allied unit in other armies that opponents could be annoyed, but in a true Agents detachment I'd hope they see the balance there.

Lol what? This is objectively better. Most of the time he's doing Dev wounds, not on something like a 1 in 100 chance to roll double 6. He'll do much more damage this way. He just won't get to shoot characters as it's very easy to avoid.

Shortening the threat range for the ability requires more investment than covering 80% of a typical game boards length with a strong effect. It means smart positioning is rewarded but also means that you're also more vulnerable. It's the same as most other abilities that increase weapons potency.

They removed the Elucidian Starstriders Kill Team from the store i think, that was the kit that made the Voidsmen-at-Arms... now they will repackage it as a 6 model unit? (intead of the 10 models), maybe to sell the others as stand alone characters?, that would be really scummy. Maybe for now to put them on the time boxes? (but they didnt remove the Exaction Squad for example)... A shame if you cant get the current Kill Team box because the models where pretty nice.

so, Ive been wondering about something with the Vindicare Assassin: Their rifle hits on a 2+, but it also has the Heavy keyword. If you have the model remain stationary, does it hit on a 1+ because Heavy gives it plus 1 to hit? I thought 1s were always misses, but if that's true then Heavy really can't benefit the Vindicare at all, right?

You are right. 1's always miss. The heavy just counteracts stealth, so you still hit stealth targets on a 2+.

Well, he DID lose his special rule where every time he rolls a 6 to hit you add THREE to the damage (meaning his pistol becomes 6 damage) and the unit you hit makes a battleshock test, and I cant imagine he isn't 100pts+

Canada gets the shaft with the lowest rebate. I don't blame fenris, I blame Canada. Also, I wanted to add this: they scrapped the Deathwatch faction and reduced it to a single squad with a character and a flyer...And they were too lazy to redo their rules...FOR 3 UNITS! 3 units that are no longer a standalone thing (spare me your "it still kinda does tee hee" bullsh*t GW). Naw, they re-used their codex rules. I was genuinely excited for this book. Finally The Inquisition the way it should be! And now idk....If this is what the full book is gonna be like, I might just stick with adding assassins to regular armies and giving Agents a hard pass.
