Hey mate great video, I fish stockton regularly and find that the running sinker (breakaway/grapnel) and a 2 hook snelled rig works best for me. Running live yellowtail. Hit my PB 2 weeks ago with 98cm with my mate hitting 1+ meters 2 weeks in a row now. Keen to see more beach videos 👌

Thanks mate so your rigging with a running grapple sinker on say 15lb and it’s breaking away when your fighting a fish

@@aussfish9995 yea so I use a size 6 grapnel from bcf which I find digs into the sand much better to prevent sweep. Size 6 is a little over the top but it works. I find the grapnel, because the dig down so well, when the fish takes the bait it has that extra but of resistance to set the circle hooks (using size 8 circles) This is what works for me

Also 60lb leader on 30lb mono on the spool. Penn prevail 2 15-37kg 12ft is the gear I'm using.

Well my whole live bait rig consists of a number 7 ball sinker running straight down to a 10/0 octopus hook. Takes me all of 20 seconds to tie 👍

Dave, I have just discovered your channel. Don't bother trying to cast those larger tailor. I can see you already have grapnel sinkers, maybe take a look at slide baiting them. I have had good success on Stocko with that. If you want a big dog, that's how it's done.. you may also get sharked, but you wont get annoying shit like eagle rays or banjos (like you will with slab baits)

Hey Mick yeah that was early in my Beach fishing experiment, had never beach fished before. I’ve been at it for coming on two years now and I’ve come along way. Taught myself how to catch beach worms and have caught heaps of Jew on them now, just learnt how to catch arrow squid in the lake and they are awesome on a paternoster rig line they go in Western Australia for bigger Jew and they work awesome. I haven’t gone done the slide baiting rabbit hole yet. It’s looks awesome for big fish I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the advice much appreciated hope you enjoy the channel tight lines Dave. PS check out my Instagram page @daverudder there are some fish showing my growing confidence as a beach fisherman 🙏🙏

@@aussfish9995 Hi Dave. I have looked at some of your recent content. Awesome progress, you're an absolute pro on the beach now. Even back when you made this video I could see that you had great fishing instincts, which I put down to your other fishing experience. I've subscribed, might see you out there

Well you know my little tinny mate I’m always out and about don’t hesitate to say hullo. There are are Snapper in close from Newcastle to Redhead get out there and start exploring. Use a 1/4 or even a 1/6 with a 20lb leader 3 inch gulp prawns are awesome . Just start casting and watch my technique video on using a gulp prawn you’ll start catching tight lines mate

Hey mate enjoying your vids. Just an idea for you don’t be afraid to shove some tailor strips on hooks for Jew, i know everyone says chuck massive slabs on but I’ve caught plenty of quality fish at stocko on much smaller (fresh) baits.

Great content as usual Dave. I've just moved to Stockton, and I'm still relatively new to Australia (Yank), so I've been trying to figure out the beach as well. Having some success catching beach worms and getting into the flatty and whiting, but still no jew. One of these days.

Dave, I was told by No Shoes, that the trawlers caught 2 tonne of Mulloway in the river. And he caught a smaller Mulloway and it had a lot of net scars on it.
