In FF14 you get new housing! New races you've been asking for! New data centers! New classes! Going to the moon! Old Sharlayan! In WoW, we withhold important fixes as an incentive to resub when we drop the next patch.

FFXIV ain't exactly perfect either. Pay a premium sub per retainer on top of your actual sub for storage space, vast majority of complaints outside of the JP region ignored, Housing held as an incentive to stay subbed or the Gil you invested into it is completely lost with little (if you catch it soon enough) or no recompensation, glamour storage/systems are fucked. Much better than WoW in a lot of ways but far worse in others

@@RexZShadow Haven't played ESO or GW2 in a while so I don't really know exactly what plagues them, but at least on a surface level I can say ESO seems very expensive. Yearly full-price expansions + "optional" sub + conveniences, services and appearance stuff behind cash shop, or worse, crown crates (lootboxes). From what I hear the main problem with GW2 is that it's understaffed and underfunded but I don't know more about it on a deeper level. The best bet for MMOs overall is probably something smaller.

@@gackybass The problem is just there hasn't really been anything in past i want to say good 5 years+ All the development company that make smaller mmorpg has really all moved into the mobile game market because way cheaper and way more money (one of the many reasons I hate mobile games lol) And the last few mmorpg i remember launching in last few years were all just oof like Bless and another one that wasn't a disaster but like just kinda died after a few months. Definitely WAY less of mmorpg coming out compared to say around like 2007-2012 where just so many coming out.

The whole gaming industry is slowly shifted to online play games with high graphics and performances. Yes it is expensive and gambling is bad with a ton of gaming companies. When ppl have more choices, they take the one they prefer or have a dedicated fanbase large enough. ESO and GW2 didn’t have a good console support and regularly update compare to Wow or ffxiv. Mobile gaming is on the rise and new MMOs need to wait and on hold for two years now. With tons of newer games and console gaming that ported to pc. Ppl have more time management to what they want to play so it’s already a shifted market demand as younger generations now just focus on F2P games while whaling are great for any gaming companies to jump on that bandwagon for customers. Only hardcore fans would keep older games running as newer games popping everyday so you have more platforms and entertainment space.

I remember reading about it or hearing it in game the telling of the elements and how they interact or something they seemed to describe the world's calamities or era I'm not sure but they were told in verses, it drove me crazy not remembering so I searched till I found it It's called: Essences & Permutations - A Treatise of the Six Elements If you search that you'll find that answer, I just can't remember where was it mentioned in-game, was it by Urianger or maybe in another side quest I played, dunno yet but I'll find out 🤓
