On looks alone? Out of the Americans I would have to say the Plymouth 'Cuda (the featured car by the way is a 1970 model), it's lines are smooth and flowing with minimal ornamentation or fussy details. Out of the Aussies? I am stuck between the XR Falcon GT and the VH Charger E49. If that Charger was painted in what Chrysler called at the time Mercury Silver it would be no contest, the Charger would be the one to have. They just looked drop dead gorgeous in that colour with the black outs. I drove one many years ago and I will never forget the experience. The breath taking acceleration and the sound of that Hemi as you wound it out through the gears is something I will never forget. Of course all of the cars featured here are stunning in their own ways and they each created their own legends as time passed. I didn't bother watching the Mustang versus the Commodore though. Real muscle cars have chrome bumpers. Thanks for posting this, very enjoyable to watch and enjoy.

I loved Australian V8 muscle cars from childhood until 2020 when I purchased a 2008 S5 V8 Audi Quattro. Game over. S5's pull 0.9 g force on a skid pan. They hang on to the road like a spider

As far as the run of the mill more common versions, the Camaro had a 350 sbc where the common Pontiac Firebird had a Pontiac 400 which is a much better engine with the limited 3 and 4 speed transmissions in street cars, now the SBC had unlimited mods however in the day the Pontiac 400 was probably easier to get big power from or a 428/455 could easily be slotted in it's place, it's a much bigger undertaking to swap a 396/402/427/454 into a SBC Camaro.

The only thing that keeps the Aussie cars down is they never got the big blocks in anything accept some fullsize Mopar sedans that got the 350, 361 and 383 low deck B block. Holden Monaros got 327 and 350 SBC, Ford got the 351w and 351c, Charger got the 340 and 360 LA which were rated less power than the 265ci Hemi 6. The American muscle cars got 383, 390, 396, 400, 402, 426, 427, 428, 429, 440, 454, 455, 460 big block V8s. Maybe they weren't as high strung than the small blocks but, they could easily be modified to be. I love the Australian cars they look cool to me. I have owned later Holden Monaro(Pontiac GTO), Holden Caprice(Chevrolet Caprice PPV) and Holden Commodore (Chevrolet SS) with LS1, L77 and LS3 engines.

@@martinsmallwood9605- agree. At that time the predominant race series in the US were NASCAR and Drag racing. This was the home territory of the various big blocks. Then you had Trans Am and that’s where the 5 liters were used in the US because the races were on road courses and that was where the small bocks came into play. In Australia it was predominantly road racing and that drove the manufactures to the larger capacity small blocks. For me the Phase 3 will be my favorite. When one pulled up next to you at the lights you knew exactly what you were up against and chances were you were just going to see a rear bumper. A comparison of a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang and a Phase 3 would have been a good add to this video.

@@retrotom5346- yes they raced on road courses, but predominantly on the ovals. In Australia it’s all road course and some are pretty tight and unsuited to heavy cars. Everybody has a favorite- mine the XY, then the XB and then the XD ( specifically those models looked the best). Overseas I’ll take a 1969 Boss Mustang.

Seeing that th "New" cars were from 2012 I'm guessing that's when this was made. But I also get the feeling that they intentionally put the From 30 2012 up against the Holden 2012 so they would have the better car for the segment. Because they seemed to go out if their way to match up the other cars quite well for the most part, But then they just dropped it all and paired the Holden (Chevy of Aussie Land) against a inferior Ford instead of putting it up against the EXACT Match of the Pontiac G8 GXP 6 Speed Manual with 402 HP and 401 Ft-lbs Torque. It's almost the same car. (Almost LOL). Then there was the Cadillac CTS-V with identical specs or even the Camaro ZL1 Let alone the Corvette (Of course that wouldn't be allowed in this contest lol). Anyway great fun and I learned a lot about Aussie Muscle too! Thanks.

The au was an all Australian design that was a good car but the design was 5 years ahead of what the market would buy and compared to the then vt Commodore, styling wise, was totally outclassed. This was corrected with the ba Falcon 4 years later with a more conservative design.

I believe there were discussions of bringing out an E55 after the E49. Could be wrong but I think it was going to be the 340 with some tuning bits from the US plus a 4 speed.

This is a really lousy car comparison, it's not assessing vehicles on objective, measurable criteria, the "judgement" is mostly based on opinion and or visual appeal to an individual. It would be more credible and acceptable if there was also a scientific assessment/comparison of performance, acceleration, top speed and cornering to name the main factors.

We got alot of over the top big stuff but you guys know the tech what i want the clleveland or a clevor in a nice little package falcon build why they didnt ship here and there kmaybe a little ship with the odds of chance of mistake you guys have the the 1000mile road to go on providing you dont have a prob excepyt storms that come atta no where or a damn walabee in the road id advice to curb that problem is to make irrigation tubs underthe road so wild life life and other most dangerous life is safe away from traffic make your own falcon or the fairmount package likeba fox design your crazy not too die in all that heat though man i see commercials and it looks to be hell on the body they should take and reboot the camel 1000over there in Australia Open to the general public the last unknown in the planet just be sure the locals can help with repairs if the need happens

Valiant Charger body is beautiful but the front end, grille, is very ugly and doesn't belong with the rest of the body. I would build a grille mimicking the 1969 Dodge Charger.

Two problems with the Charger ( IMO), first they fart arsed around with the E39 - a 3 speed transmission. Secondly, they had terrible understeer - look at some of the old Bathurst races ( I think it was Doug Chivas) turning on the main straight…nearly pushed off the track. Love the motor - great sound, both mechanically and out the exhaust ( even better with dual exhaust).
