The stock GQ is the most classic looking 4wd in my mind. I’m biased because it was my family car when I was young and now I have my own but the basic square design just looks perfect to me. A bit military and looks tough without trying too hard like modern 4wd’s with their aggressively angled grilles and head lights. I will take my GQ to the grave with me. Disappointing that we will never see such reliable no bullshit cars made again.

I had a 93 pootrol, 2 inch lift and 285/75R16 tyres, on gas. and i lost count of the time someone said "you wont get up/through that" thing was a beast. wish I still had it

GREAT buy , you have done well. I had mine for 25 years and the only changes were new springs and shocks and a Good return to centre damper shock. That is the key to the death wobble these things get. Also changed the front seats to B F XR seats Vast improvement in that move. There is an engineered kit that uses the original brackets and takes 1/2 hour per seat to fit.

Sweet. Same colour and same model as mine. Don’t stress about the muddies, the disconnect and lsd work sweet . Make sure you have the right oil in the lad or they don’t work. Mine is 2” lift and winch bar and aftermarket efi. Stock patrol is very capable.

What ever you mod on it, make sure it's reversible. That thing in that condition will only go up in value if stock. Great buy.

I wanted a TD42 but got a TB45 GU instead, trust me, the Petrol is brilliant, don’t let the kettle boys get to you, you’ll love it with some lift and tires for everything you need it to do

I've had heaps of tb 4.2 carbys Once there on gas it normally kills the carbys.. so best to do a rebuild on the carby.. but Im a fan of gas keeps the costs down a little bit haha Currently have a tb4.5on gas and love it

The only thing I would do is lose the alloy bar, and find an expert on the tb45 to get it running at it's best. If you're only going to be doing low to medium ks in the bus ANY engine swap is pissing money down the drain.

Once upon a time back early 90’s I was a young kid I would see this cruise down the Islamabad High Way. The Safari edition is my favourite 4,2 TD straight 6. I did buy a YR61 2004 model 3.0 however I hated it. I’ve also owned Toyota Land Cruisers too

My dads patrol been everywhere like we went up north with the car trailer and bring some cars home we towed trucks out of bog holes it was a really good car but we had to park it up because the engine mount was broken and the fuel cost but one day I would like to work on it

nothing wrong with petrol 4x4s there a bit thursty but reliable my tb 45 has 380000 kays never missed a beat had it for ten years had an eighty petrol for about ten years never missed a beat had had a sixty SERIES for about 12 years never missed a beat had 45 for about 10 years never missed a beat diesel is cheaper to run but petrols don't have as many parts so less to go wrong and easier to work on
