2 cars have a minor carpark incident. Dc car is reversing for another car to get out, on a one way road and other vehicle exiting a carparking spot. Both collide while reversing. Who is determined as the at fault party or do they both have some liability here?

No. Wrong. Reversing into traffic is illegal.

While this is true, the DC car was in motion backing up before the Audi, and the Audi failed to yield, striking the _side_ of the DC car. I have no idea what they were looking at while backing up, but it very clearly wasn't anything behind them. Pretty big awareness fail on both parts, but the Audi is at-fault; DCer was backed into, did not back into the Audi.

Both. The car reversing out would normally be at fault but you would expect that they would be looking in the direction of on coming traffic. What the hell was the cammer doing? “Oh I think I saw a spot back there. I’ll just reverse up the road in the face of traffic”

Or if it was a lady with a pram instead of a car would she be at fault as well as the reversing car leaving the spot? According to your analysis she would be. The reversing car leaving the parked position has to give way to anything and anyone already on the thoroughfare.

Interesting one, but the Audi is at fault. DCer was reversing straight back, and _did not reverse into anyone._ Audi started reversing _after_ DCer and reversed out to hit the _side_ of the DCer. It's perfectly ok to travel "a reasonable distance" contra-flow while parking, nothing about the DCer "reversing against traffic flow" is a breach. Stunning lack of awareness from both parties though.

Given that the reversing car in the parking spot, did in fact have a clear view of what was behind it right before it struck the reversing DC, the DC is in the right. The two cars did not reverse into each other; the DC was reversed into. There is only one car reversing into another car here. There is nothing behind the DC driver; his path is clear. The point is, the car reversing out of parking spot did have enough of a clear view of what it was about to reverse into: the DC was directly behind it at point of impact.

You cannot reverse the wrong way up a street, regardless if you're giving way to a car exiting a carspace. When reversing you must be aware of surroundings.. Insurance will probably settle on each other, fixing the other if it goes that far. My personal opinion is the DC car reversing up the street is in more wrong.

It is perfectly within road rules to reverse short distances contra-flow to get in or out of parking. It is not perfectly within road rules to reverse into another vehicle. You are wildly incorrect.

People need to stop asking "who's fault is it" and start asking "how could it be avoided in the first place" We're not politicians, so we need to take some responsibility in the vast majority of "accidents" Why didn't the cam car, with arguably less obstructed vision, not see the car reversing? (is the cam car also reversing? the speed reading on screen shows a positive number just before impact, when it changes direction the reading goes to 0) We all have a duty of care to avoid incidents where possible, regardless of "at fault"

The answer is in the wording you just used. DCer didn't back into the Audi, but the Audi _did_ back into the DCer.

I've know two people who were both reversing out of their car spots at a shopping centre. The vehicle opposite was doing the same and they collided. Both instances the insurance companies put both drivers at fault, 50/50. I suspect this may be a similar situation. The parked car was reversing and hit a vehicle behind it, whilst at the same time the DC didn't take reasonable action to avoid the collision (you could clearly see the other car reversing and there was plenty of time to stop).

The rear facing camera could clearly see them reversing out, I doubt the driver could see them in the mirror. The car reversing out of the bay would not be expecting someone coming from the wrong way.

Guy with camera car is wrong. 2 reasons. Driving on the wrong side of the road or driving the wrong way on a one way street. If the camera car is actually reversing he is again at fault.
