Was really bad in the Gippsland area my friends said almost every tree in street was knocked down and many house roofs gone!

It was great to see all the trees with the power lines going straight through the middle. The good old tree butchers are out in force. At least the poles will be good for a while as they have all been replaced.

Unbelievable! One of my friends in sth taralgon will be without power for at least another week. She said it was a cyclone 🌀 basically

Lost a tree at ours, Bellarine, it was bizarre.

A fine example showing the result of tree trimming post Black Saturday when good healthy trees were turned into lopsided Vases and so the wind load is on one side and so they fall down. All to protect the power lines and that strategy has failed. NIMBY at its best.

nothing wrong with the driving at all - of course if you knew the road rules it wouldnt be an issue (over 80ks to keep left which is actually 90 cause we dont have 85k speed zones in aus) debris could be in any lane steeeevie!

Im certainly not making this seem trivial at all, as its tragic, but this driveby shows me how many large trees that have been redirected away from power lines making them very heavy on their out growing limbs and some are hugely deformed. This needs some urgent attention as they are living time bombs and some of them dont need a strong wind.

I noticed that too.Thought it only happened here. It's been a trend here abouts (lower north coast NSW) for 25 years or so and only serves to make trees dangerous. My main question on the subject is,who came up with the idea of planting trees that grow to 80-100 feet under power lines?The stupidity is mind boggling. Where I lived most of my life council planted gum trees on the side of the street where the power lines are and smaller trees like bottle brush and paper barks on the opposite side,how dumb is that.

Exactly. Madness. A State Wide policy was put in place because the power Cos refused to take the blame for previous negligence. So every tree in Victoria was carved into a Vase and the more they cut the more they got paid. It is still happening today. Maniacs with chain saws not true Arborists.
