I once went on a training course. The instructor got us to get down on the road and rub our palms on the seal. You could see the realisation in a lot of the participants, he didn't even say wear the gear.

As a former motorcycle rider, wearing just a T shirt is stupidly.

Yeah, the old -600 grit bitumen is very effective at grinding away flesh.

It's the non-reinforced jeans and his agony at having the side of his knee belt-sanded off that I'm more wincing about, though I'm sure his hips and sides aren't happy either. This _does_ reinforce why some of us like to ride protected properly though; never know what bs is out there just waiting to fk up your day.

Rule No1 when riding in the wet - don't be in the centre of the lane where the oils drips from cars and trucks fall. Follow the drier line towards the left and right of the lane, where the car tyres are displacing the water. Well, maybe Rule No1 is to wear a jacket. 😉

Exactly. This is one of the things taught as part of the Q-Ride course.

Riding in a tshirt show how smart he is
@kramsc118 күн бұрын
he started going over just after passing the debris on the road, suspect that made conditions more greasy. When he started to slide he then grabbed a handful of brake which is the worst thing you can do.
@axelknutt506516 күн бұрын
To be fair, unfortunately our natural instinct is to grab the brakes. You don’t have time to analyse what’s going on and the correct procedure, this has to be a muscle memory action which only comes with experience. But you can train for it.

Been there, done that. But luckily I was just about to turn so was only doing about 20kph and lost the front on a slippery road, and I was wearing a jacket (no cloves and open helmet). Grazed left hand and chin, smashed an indicator, and deep fearing damage in one spot.

Ouch ! Trying to work out what happened here. I can see the tyres are displacing water (rear tyre). My guess is that he grabbed a bit too much front brake on an oil patch. A while ago I ended up going for a slide in the car. I had hit some oil and just slid. Pretty hard to control it once you're on wet oil. I got off the brakes, kept the wheels pointed in the direction of travel and eventually got the wheels turning then gently steered back on to course. . For about 2 seconds I was just along for the ride.

Pretty sure he just grabbed front brake in fresh wet conditions bad idea !
