This problem could have been foreseen because Outback Octagon had to enforce sportsmanship through refereeing (folks might remember the time 3D!Bee was almost suspended because he was thought to have donated a king) and there's no way to referee random players in QM. Outback Octagon rules work in a tournament setting where players can be punished for poor sportsmanship, but don't work in QM lobbies

Drongo mate, you need to pay attention when about to kill a king. Everytime you are close to killing it (WITH MELEE ONLY), you get outsmarted because you lack the ranged units.

I feel Drongo needs to play more proactive against it. Like the first time he backed out when he didn't know where the king is. They nice so slowly. There's a big window to get them if you've vision and scouts. You don't need to be in castle to grab them. But I do get it is annoying and I've been given kings and it feels weird. Not given people the chance to do it to others though ;)

King donations make it so there is no reason to do anything other than turtling and booming the entire game. Actually playing the game is double punished with being behind booming opponents and with them getting more population from the king donation. This has to be fixed.

You should have put the cistern in the walls with the keep and attached it to the walls to go through to the other cisterns. That way you would always have at least one cistern worth of upgrade on your keep.

Drongo the Berries dont need to be in the circle for the GW, as long as the vill walks back into the influence and drops off it counts. You can do the same trick with farms as you do with HRE and put one ring of farms set a mill and expand the amount of farms and the vills drop off at the mill and it counts.

I imagine people will keep king donating at a greater rate even after strategies partially counter it, because to an extent, the people who king donate are likely only down for low-rushing playstyles, so they will do what they need to push the balance in a punitive way that hurts everyone they dislike. After all, if the quickmatch for FFA is elo based, these choosing to die scenarios where you take the L are going to be rewarded: You are more likely get matches where you feel powerful if you do something that''s spiteful and makes you feel good in the moment. There are no rewards for doing well, so there is nothing to mitigate unsportsmanly ways of dying feeling good for people who are frustrated. Its like how I imagine, 6-8 months down the line, there will be people who keep forces in reserve to just rush people who speak like there is a code of honor (As this defends them to have units in reserve, AND lets them swarm like piranas at people who are trying to be smart.) These sorts of anti-social buzzkills tend to compound and get worse over time once they get discovered.

It’s frustrating but could lead to an interesting idea. Have a dynamic handicap system that awards all surviving players additional pop space when someone gets taken out, except the killer of course. Or maybe that would just encourage turtling.

I think a good way to handle this would be to set a few key structures as anchor points, and have the player lose massively on their rank (or even some kind of griefing punishment) if they are eliminated with a king that isn't in proximity to those structures. And it would also clearly indicate collusion if you see a keep in the middle of someone else's base with a king tucked away.

Tbh if you support bullshitting in chat then throwing away the king to a different player is just a different angle to discourage getting attacked... I personally do not care for both of those methods. Bullshitting in the chat just leads to players ignoring the chat because any information there is unreliable. To me calling out people throwing their king away to other players (to spite their executioner, teamdonations are lame) when you're leading disinformation campaigns in the chat is like the scammer accusing the thief of theft.

ive noticed youve done this with a few fights, you dont take 3 seconds to confirm a kill or reorder formations and look away for extended amount of seconds, we all do it because that idle vil pop is nagging at our brain, but especially with big maps like this going for the confirmed kill, especially with how if they run out the back of the castle your units will get tied down with the closest enemy instead of confirming a king kill.

I thought he didn't either for a second but I believe it's actually the crossbow elite upgrade displaying in the same place as the Varengian guard upgrade because he's selecting all military production buildings which includes both the archery ranges and the barracks. So it displays a blend of both buildings technologies and units, making it look confusing. At least that's what I assume! Could be wrong!
