I recently started hitting thin shots with full wedges and It sounds like too much tension as I'm probably gripping the club more as I'm scared to hit them thin but i'm OK with short range pitching I'll give this a go next time i'm out, thanks Ones I struggle with are shorter shots when the longer grass is growing away from the hole

Thanks for your comments Les. Tension is possibly a golfer’s number 1 enemy! Into the grain is always trickier because it’s challenging to know how much grass will become trapped between the clubface and the ball. You definitely need more clubhead speed than from a normal lie, but expect to achieve less backspin. Hi glen, when does a pitch stop being a pitch and then we have to change to a closer chip shot - therefore what are the key differences between the two shots?
@AussieGolfPros2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve. Great question! We’re planning to bring a video out on that exact process soon. Watch this space. Thank you.

This may sound incredibly dumb, but I don't understand the concept of 'bounce'. When you refer to the bounce of a club, what does that mean?
@AussieGolfPros2 жыл бұрын
Not at all Michael - thank you for your question. The ‘bounce’ is the sole of the club and is measured in degrees. The greater the bounce, the lower the sole’s trail edge sits in relation to the club’s leading edge. Hi Glenn, maybe for your series. Interested in also hitting these fat as well as skinny, especially from 50-80 metres. Cheers Joe

Definitely on the agenda Joe. Thanks!

Agree, that would be great, I hit all wedges from whatever distance 80% fat, and 15% thin, despite many perfect practice swings, just brushing ground past the ball position. Have been doing this for 15 years, and many lessons from several different pros trying to show me several different methods, have made zero difference. Endlessly frustrating

Chip from a downhill lie, with a mound to get over, onto a downhill green.
