Austin was doing musical theater on a cruise ship when Home Free was also performing on said ship. They loved his voice, and Austin loved them. He told them to call him if they had an opening. The rest is history. One thing I heard on one of the live videos…Austin stated that he wanted to perform with them after seeing them do “Little Red Riding Hood”, and also that he loved Rob’s voice.

He's had done some musical theatre in the past and he was trained to lose the accent and I believe he could defiantly be on Broadway with that pure dynamic voice of his, but he's happy to be singing with Home Free where he can keep that little bit of twang in him and it fits right in, but it is so cool to see him sing without it too. All of the singers in Home Free are so versatile and that's why they can sing most anything and do it amazingly well.
@patriciamcl542 жыл бұрын
Austin has said that while he doesn't want to leave Home Free, he would also like to go back to musical theatre if the opportunity came along. He also has to think of the future. Btw he hasn't done "some" musical theatre but has graduated with a degree in it, which involves a full classical training.

As horrible as the pandemic has been, Home Free used this time wisely! They've all got their side projects that have really stirred their creative flow. I think Home Free is stronger and more cohesive than ever. Take care Travis, liked seeing you smiling and enjoying today! (yes I've shed some tears over Austin singing before and this one is quite stunning!)

There's so much soul and so much hope and trust and pain and authenticity in his voice that it just grips a hold of me from the first note. I've seen him since this love with Home Free, 6 years ago, and it was stunning, but his voice and the depth of which he reaches into his soul has evolved so very much since. I hope he gets to go on Broadway at some point if he chooses to. Again worked really hard in college to get rid of his Southern accent. He got some of it back over years, but who cares. I don't and I don't think we should be so strict about this like that anyway when it's a song out of context. Great reaction, Travis! Thank you! 🥰🙏

Austin does a good job, but Alfie Boe is incredible (and my favorite) with this song. He makes it more of a prayer
@carinalindberg73772 жыл бұрын
@@joanpoates4620 One of my favourite things about Austin's rendition is that he doesn't make into too much of a prayer, he also has the knowingness of someone who trusts in his God, just as the song tells in the very beginning. It's not just a prayer of despair to me, it's also about the faith and that's what I feel Austin portrays better than anyone. We all interpret everything uniquely so e each have our own very personal interpretations. There's no wrong it right. Austin is to me the best singer I've ever come across and he's still very much evolving. Not only because of his voice and skills as such, but because he sings with his soul and it speaks to me. So, to me there's no comparison and also no need to compare.

Austin's voice is something out of his world. I know he can do Broadway and blow away our minds with it. I'd like to see him perform "Gethsemane" from JCS .Only few singers can take that dare, but I'm quite sure he would kill it.

My grandmother told me she always said "bring him home" but she never forgot the day men in military outfits brought her the letter saying her husband had died in war. Austin's voice has come a long way since then, has matured and 'settled. He's also filled out (looks like those workouts had an effect!) so that his voice is more resonant, with a lovely vibrato. In the live performance most often shown, he had a cold and congestion, and was a little 'pitchy' as a result.

@ilsukdyang81342 жыл бұрын
As much as I love Austin with Home Free (I hope he never leaves them!) I think the stuff he releases on his own channel is so much better! We get to see more shades of Austin when it's just him singing. I think the same of Tim (can't remember if you've reacted to the doo wop singles he's released on his channel, but if you haven't, I hope you do because they're great) and Geoff from VoicePlay (I think you may have reacted to one or two of his "solo" songs, but I could be wrong about that). When all these guys are part of a group, they have to do certain parts, but when it's just one of them in a solo performance, we see them in a new light! Anyways, there is a live version of this song that Home Free did when Austin was a newer member than he is now. You can react to it or just watch it on your own time, but he's awesome there, too. I do think this video on Austin's channel is better, but that's partly due to Austin getting better over time and the fact that the previous version is live in front of a lot of people. Great reaction, as always, Travis!

@@chrismorin1318 Well, they only became a "country" group for the Sing-Off. Before that, they were much more varied in the genres they covered. Kind of like now. I agree he could have a great career, not least because he is also a talented actor. But he doesn't at present seem to be very ambitious, and says he is very happy with Home Free and a further income from his patrons. He has even said that if HF collapses, he would be happy to go back to the cruise ships, which can hardly be what Amberly would want or would now satisfy him artistically. Trouble is, HF tours about 200 days a year + rehearsals and recordings, so he can't do much else. And unfortunately in the music business and in theatre, nobody comes looking for you - you've got to go out there into the market and sell your talent, which Austin doesn't want to do.
