Austin Butler did something that is incredibly difficult... he won over Elvis fans. His performance portrayed who Elvis was as both performer and person with such respect, dignity, and integrity. The task was thought nearly impossible by Elvis fans until Austin Butler. He took this as a responsibility rather than a role and he deserves to be recognized for it. One of the best performances I've ever seen.

I was apprehensive when I heard they were making the move not just about the actor who would play Elvis but Tom Hanks playing I guy you're meant to hate. Both won me over and it's a travesty Austin doesn't have an Oscar today.

Sadly, people who say he doesn't deserve this have no clue how much work Austin had done and how much of his life he'd put in to portray such an iconic star as Elvis. I watched a lot of documentaries, interviews, behind the scenes and comparison videos since watching this film, and tbh, the effort he's put in to embody Elvis was another level. I loved both Brendan and Colin's performances this season but it's a tall order what Austin did, especially the artistry and respect both he and Baz had put into making the film. Better just ignore the haters, the majority who mattered (Presleys, critics and audience) have spoken. Well done, Austin!

Oscars are agenda based union members. Fortunately, BAFTA is the UK Oscar equivalent. The States went with Fraser's sentimental comeback story and victim narrative because America felt they owed him, plus the U.S. doesn't like to give best actor to those in their first lead role. That's why Austin won 13 Breakthrough Performance Awards in America and only 3 as lead with People's Choice, Sunset Circle and Minnesota Film Critics. However he won lead actor internationally with Hollywood Foreign Press Golden Globe, UK BAFTA, Catalonia Spain Sant Jordi, Australia AACTA International and Domestic versions, Ireland IFTA International, International Press Academy Satellite, Portugal CinEuphoria, South African Online Film Critics

@@hollister2320 😂 what are the requirements? Being older or having personal struggles? Oscars are clearly based on agenda towards lifetime achievement or personal sentimental stories. And they don't give it to people in their first lead role. Fraser was given repairation in the States but not abroad. If any non acting narrative should apply it would be the dedication to a part for two years to where you lose yourself in the role, combined with the relevant aspect of portraying basically 3 different people over 3 deacdes on and off the concert stage, as is what happened with Butler. Now compare that to Fraser playing himself, a sweet guy who's broken, depressed and on the verge of tears. A24 pandered with Hollywood parties, that's why literally all 4 of their actors won both SAG and Oscars. How hard was it for Paul Newman as Fast Eddie to win the Oscar, when he did nothing in the Color of Money, or Art Carney in Harry and Tonto etc? Lifetime Achievement. All the winners for Hollywood SAG and Oscars were in their 50s and 60s. It's obvious. I noticed you referred to the Americans as Yanks, telling me you must be British. Well, you should be proud of your British film industry Academy because they were clearly objective. And always have been. 45 of the 55 applicable ceremonies since the international and British categories were combined, many times British actors and actresses lost to non Brits, and sometimes Brits aren't even nominated
