I sometimes think,”What if he hadn’t sent that video to Baz?” After Denzel seeking Baz out to tell him about Austin I tell myself he would have met with Austin, and let him go through the ‘audition routine’. He would have seen it. The poor boy worked like a dog for six months and Baz hadn’t even told him he had the part. That is evidence of how determined he was to do it right! I can’t imagine anyone else in that role. He was so perfect. And I’m so happy that because of that movie his career is only going to get bigger. What talent! 🥰

NO!! Baz said & others who were part of making this movie have said that the later songs were a mixture of Austin & Elvis voices combined, because Austin did indeed sang all the songs full out!! No Lip-singing so later in post production they would decide on what parts of Austin vocal performance they would keep & where they would add Elvis voice. As an example, when they filmed the Las Vegas performances when Austin as Elvis in the White jumpsuit, Austin performed (sang live not Lip-sing) like 4 songs in a row & in between the songs Austin would even joke and interact with the audience like Elvis with out breaking character. Baz filmed them in one long shot with multi cameras to capture different angles with no breaks in between, they said it was like watching a mini concert! It was later in post production that Baz cut and edited Austin performances.

I found out that basically the first half of the movie was Austin while the second half was a mix of him and Elvis and it was because of his heavy drug use and the fact he sounded so different, so Austin couldn’t replicate it and that’s why they used Elvis’ voice in post production.

Unlike the average ETA, Austin embodied Elvis, he wasn't just imitating him. There's very good ETA's out there, but to me they're just imitators, only competing against each other to see who's the best one. I'd rather pay money to watch Austin do an Elvis show than even Shawn Klush, as good as he is.

Definitely. People criticize Austin cause he doesn't look like Elvis, but we all know what's better than someone who looks like Elvis, someone who IS Elvis. He talked like Elvis, sung like Elvis, laughed like Elvis, walked, stood, and breathed like Elvis, one of the most impressive things I've ever seen on television.

@thoughtfullyshort I think that's the biggest thing is getting his movements down. Kurt Russell was too jittery, and movements were too exaggerated when performing as Elvis. Most notable when he did the Grand Ole Opry scene. I still love that movie, though. Even Dale Midkiff from Elvis and Me got some of his walking and standing down pretty decently. We won't even go into Don Johnson, though!
