Follow along as I film some of my more interesting projects. Today we finish the kingpin project, minus the last segment as we trim out the bushings on the southbend then press them in and ream them to size. Follow along, we'll have some fun.

Takes me back to 1960 when I was doing my motor mechanics apprenticeship. Great to watch Nik!

+Alan Long The early 60's was about the time I learned about kingpin rebuilds in a full service gas station where I apprenticed. Thanks for watching.

I just found your tubes there great, ha ha. where did I hear that from. not sure if that trick was shown to you from the 60's , but it's a great idea for me when I do small line boring jobs thanks Nik . now I have another use for my adjustable reamers! I just subscribed can't wait for more, good stuff!

No one showed me, I just had to figure it out way back then. I've used that method many times over the years. I post something every sunday and sometime wednesdays. Thanks for watching.

If they are made out of 'soft' brass they won't last very long. They MUST be bronze. Top marks for the reamer adaptation 👍

You are very right. I do hope I used bronze. It was so long ago I don't remember. Thanks for watching though.

Your alignment solution was clever but awkward. When I was reaming kingpin bushes for a living we had a set5 of adjustable reamers with "Pilots". The pilot was a threaded tube which replaced the bottom nut. A tapered sleeve slid along the tube and provided the alignment.

Steve Allen I've had chickens for 40 years and for some weird reason I built this coop next to my studio. . .duh! Yes, that chicken is loud and relentless. Her time in this planet is getting shorter by the hour.
