One of the problems with this film for me was that there was little to no gameplay aspects added it, Mike never had to check the cameras or close any doors or conserve power. You know, the important parts of the game.

The fnaf film was not made for the fans, it has nothing to do with fnaf, by all means it's the equivalent of a fanfic that they turned into a feature length shitshow. It's not about "oh but they were kids" it's about the disrespect and lack of giving a shit any member of the team had with this film, it panders to a younger audience and one that has never had or has had as little interaction with the franchise as possible, and it tries to avoid confronting its lazy writing by saying it's a "love letter to the fans!!". This isnt a love letter, it's a suicide note for what could've been a terrifying and suspenseful film all about "I swear that animatronic moved" and "why is he missing from thw main stage". Don't defend this because they'll see that they dont have to make a good film, just one that has the names of characters that are known, don't defend this film or you'll never see a good film be made ever again

I know the games never really fleshed him out, but the novels did amazing, Especially The Silver Eyes, the first one brought us to a desolate and uncannily nostalgic FNAF location from the games with a grown-up cast; why does this work? Because we grew up with FNAF and we would rather see a movie that panders to fans than kids, on top of that William Afton was introduced with depth and had a thickening suspense as he slowly became Springtrap. In the movie he just got tossed into the Springtrap role and had no character development, which was pathetic. I definitely had some issues with it, but I was reasonably invested in the main character's arc. The parts with the animatronics that worked for me were when it wasn't trying to show them move around much and interacting with the characters. Part of what made them freaky in the early games at least (the ones I'm vaguely familiar with) were that you knew they moved, but they were always moving out of view before they'd be on top of you. The part where they're just casually hanging out and watching them do stuff and walk aroubd kinda killed the mystique a bit. Unless you're dealing with outright slashers, most horror films work best when they leave certain things to the imagination instead of showing you everything in great detail. The subplot with the break in was completely irrelevant because it was never really resolved after the tresspassers all got killed. That's probably the biggest gripe I have, and tangentially related is the fact that the presumed death of the aunt in the guy's house of all places is literally never addressed, not even at the end. The cop isn't around to help him deal with things, so the rest of the police would definitely have some words and want some answers. Honestly, the part you hated, the stuff with the dreaming and figuring out the murderer/kidnapper of the main character's kid brother, was what kept me invested in spite of the film's flaws. I don't think it's a particularly great movie, and it absolutely has some glaring problems, but I think it's a just decent enough casual watch for to the stuff it does do well. Unlike a number of other movies I have seen this year, this isn't one of those movies after which I hated myself for having wasted my time. Whether or not you find any of this even remotely creepy may or may not have to do with whether or not you have any history with places that had robots or costumed people like this. I did, and I have to agree that I kinda always thought they were creepy. Still not genuinely scary, but I can appreciate it on the level of it being a gateway scary movie. They really should have done more with the father. Matthew Lilliard was criminally underutilized.

As a long time veteran fnaf fan i was HUDGEY disappointed with the movie even if it was supposedly made for fans. For one the movie's pacing is boring and time wasting we spend to much time with mike dealing with his brother's abduction for the first hour to the point where you just dont care, then when he lands a job at the pizzeria he meets with Vanessa who serves no purpose apart from explaining what is going on and what is the premise for the audience, then we see mike having dreams with ghost children again and again eventually saying that if mike wants garret back they will need Abby FOR WHAT REASON i dont know and mike AGREES WITH IT!? initially like thats out of character for someone who loved his sister. Then there is this aunt and lawyer plot to get mike fired by breaking into the pizzeria which doesn't do anything since the burglars are all killed and leads to a predictable jumpscare so nothing come out of that plotline then the animatronics try to stuff abby into a suit but then Mike tases chica meaning he had a taser all this time!? Then after tasing the other animatronics they have a ....... slumber party? I thought this was a horror film but f**k it. Then its revealed at the end that william killed the children which comes out of nowhere and is not fully developed even, and that Vanessa is his child and then she is stabbed (but survives somehow) then the animatroinics encircle William as he gets springlocked the Corny dialogue comes in with "i created you" and "i always come back" as he dies and the end. The plot is a piece of garbage all for fan references and easter eggs which makes sense since this was made for the fans but i feel like this is a poor decision because its labelled as a horror film meaning that many horror fans and the general audiences are going to expect a horror experience only to find more of a horror film made for kids and fans than a actual horror film. And that will effect the sequel since critics and other people will be less likely to see it after the first film which could've been avoided if they had tried to appeal to a much wider audience. And that fact people defend this film saying "its for the fans" is a bullshit one because its a excuse for the poor writing since they know fans will defend it as long that there is fan references and that its not fair for newcomers or people outside the fandom, are they not allowed to watch or get a experience out of the movie? The RATING- there is very little gore and tension in the movie, while the games are pg-13 with implied horror the lore is not and that could've been utilised to build up the tension and horror that would made the audience care about these characters but instead it goes for a campy, thriller comedy appealing to children than adults and making the actual horror not there, this had potential if it was Rated R and that would've given the team more creative freedom but even then if it is PG-13 instead of trying to work around that rating and getting away with gore and other crazy scenes they use it as a crutch not a work-around The characters are underdeveloped and overplayed, Matthew Lillard was perfect as william afton but he doesnt appear for about 80% of the movie and we dont get a reason why he does the things he does or why he has a daughter or why he abducted mike's brother specifically, Vanessa gets barely anything at all apart at the end when she is williams father which comes out of nowhere and is only used to explain whats going on and Mike conflict of his brother and his dreams are ok at first but get boring as its the same sequence over and over. I know it appears like i hate the movie but what i will say is that the sets and animatronics look amazing, it really does capture the feeling of FNAF 1 even if the writing was awful, the acting was pretty solid especially from Josh And Mathew and the references and KZbinr cameos are of course good. but overall i feel immensely disappointed because this had potential to be great but instead we got this (still gonna watch the sequel) 4.5/10 Edit: i have only watched the movie once yesterday so my recollection of the plot might not be 100% accurate but i stand by what i said but its just my opinion

Even though i understand the lore, i expect the movie to at least cover the basics to make the story work, or at least in a way that satisfies both the lore nerds and newcomers alike, but nope. This movie spent most of the time outside what you would assume the main plot to be and instead spent most of the rime developing the subplot (the custody battle, for example) instead of, well fnaf. [SPOILER REVEIW] I thought the Five Nights at Freddy's movie was a major dub, it captured the games well and the acting was spot on. I liked all the references like MatPat as a waiter in a restaurant and saying "It's just a theory!" The one downside to this was the fact that it was slow to start. I get why they did that but for half the movie it felt like a normal comedy movie. Plus the first two nights in the movie we really didn't see Mike interacting with the animatronics. He just saw them with Abbey and Vennesa and was like "This is normal" Not to mention Balloon Boy was too much of a damn menace (I liked it😂). I agree, they changed the plot, like the story should be in 1993, William Afton have one daughter who killed by Baby before, isn't Mike should be Williams son? Also, I thought the Animatronics will be ruthless in the whole 5 nights but they are cute and nice, and isn't William Afton trapped inside Sringtrap after he destroyed the Animatronic then he chased and trapped by the 5 children's spirits that he killed them?

@@fzcbh4698 yeah the plot did get altered. I was a little annoyed at the mention of who is Williams daughter. As for Mike it didn't bother me. I mean Mike is a common name so it just wasn't the same Mike.

Yep! *If* everyone "needed to be qualified" *before* giving a *personal view*...that's like giving free rein to Producers to get away with, uhm, 'rubbish!' 😅Viewer "not knowing" is not a handicap ...for the Producer's 'job' is, to make it so, so that as a 😐watcher, it changes to a satisfied new fan😉😊

Funny to say this that I found "Willy's Wonderland" is much fun than FNAF film.

I really enjoyed the movie. Sure, it's not perfect, but still a great watch for me.

I think this review tried too hard. Go back to learning how to write constructive reviews. Start with a book.

You’re just whining because you enjoy playing the games and you’re mad that people think the movie stinks. Stop whining. Go do something constructive with your life. Maybe start with a book.

The ending twist is definitely for the fans alone, it can feel very lackluster for casuals.
@AustinBurke Жыл бұрын
The ending twist would’ve soared with any sort of buildup for Lillard’s character… It’s like they forgot to give him more scenes and all of a sudden remembered he was the most integral part with 15 minutes left in the film. The twist was atrociously executed.
