So pleased you posted this. I have an H van and am learning about it. My starter motor is being reconditioned at the moment. If you over crank them they melt the solder which connects the electric wires.

Yea, they are sensitive starters. Really everything about Citroens are sensitive IMHO

Nice video as always Austin. You're definitely a nice and calm guy to watch, with a cool demena and a bit of knowledge to share. And the projects are interesting too. Perfect combination to make a good KZbin channel! Keep 'em coming, I'll keep watching!

Hi Austin what type of work do you undertake mostly to make a living . enjoy channel thanks 👍
@AustinCoulson5 жыл бұрын
For the most part I make a living doing custom fabrication, like the mobile bars or mobile pizza truck, but I'll take on any job that seems really interesting. For the last few years I've made a bulk of my living building custom hot rods and selling them at Barrett Jackson.

Going to go with one of those cheapish Eaton power plants? I would be kinda cool to go full eco, add solar on top, if it only gets moved around for bar setup, solar would be cool to keep it constantly topped off and ready to go. Add an inverter for the cash register and your pouring green booze 364 days a year without Irish puns!
@AustinCoulson5 жыл бұрын
@@adamjackson9988 I didn't actually think about adding solar panels, but I'm only running either 36 or 48 volts, and it's only going to need 3-4 marine batteries so with the surface area on the roof it would definitely be able to keep itself charged.

@Andrew Sully I am not sure, I think it is a 1.4-16 liter 4 cyl.

@Andrew Sully I googled around and couldn't find it. looks to be a 1.2-16 Liter, probably around 40hp is my guess

Hey do you eveevr come across any citroens for sale? i really would like to get one and if so what is a good chassis swap?
@AustinCoulson4 жыл бұрын
Not in the US, all these were imported. I recommend International Metro's or Grummans for vintage vans in the US. The cost to import these is not worth it IMO. There aren't any good chassis swaps for these that I know of, but they are FWD so a lot of FWD car drivetrains would fit in them

why does it sound like it has a bottom end knock? i used to have old Citroen but it doesn't sound that nasty.
@AustinCoulson5 жыл бұрын
The noise was coming from the top end. It quieted down when it warmed up so I'm thinking valves, but I was tasked with getting it running and nothing else, so I didn't get to investigate too deeply. I should be converting these to electric in the near future and when I do that, I will be able to pull the motors and go through them better.

Those engines are very relaiable if maintained well. Most of the times that is just the problem. Remember those are from the early '50's. Tune-up every 4/5.000 miles Mineral oil SAE w30 single grade at that time. In the UK they swap the low powered engine with a Ford Transit Gas or Diesel one.
@AustinCoulson5 жыл бұрын
Considering they have only needed repairs once a year or so, I'd say that's pretty good for the age!

What's going to be the next auction vehicle??
@AustinCoulson5 жыл бұрын
Haven't decided yet. I was going to buy some cheap cars and flip my way up to a cool F100 that just needed a little work, but I got busy fixing the 3 Citroens. I am contemplating selling the 2CV there. It doesn't need much, and would be interesting to see what it would do there. Thoughts?

If that van was only driven on and off a trailer, how did the air filter get so clogged and the spark plugs so messed up? Maybe that’s just the way those old engines roll. BTW did you restore that one in the past?
@AustinCoulson5 жыл бұрын
I didn't do this one, this was their first. The filter was clogged and plugs were worn well before they got it. Back when it was on the streets of Belgium delivering packages.

The fuel pump line is solid now, but I will check on the needle valve next time it's around. It ran so much better warm, they didn't want to spend any more time on it.

Couldn't you tell from my slang that I'm a CURRENT Valley Girl! I forget sometimes that almost everyone who watches these videos are from somewhere else, often very far away (I get a disproportionate amount of view from Australia, New Zealand and England). The Valley that I'm referring to, and would argue is the better valley, is the Valley of the Sun that encompasses Phoenix and all the connected suburbs.
