I ran across your video today. Very well done but with one glaring omission ( and i see this omission in many You Tube "how to" build computers). Your video is directed at people building their first computer. So why have them install the motherboard into the case and complete the build before you actually test the main components outside of the case FIRST. i remember my first build probably close to 10 years ago. I watched a video from Newegg and Paul from Paul's Hardware. He made a point of "breadboarding" the major components outside of the case to make sure the Ram, CPU, PSU, mobo and graphics card were working before installing it into the case. Lo and behold my first build i had a bad motherboard and i am grateful i did not put everything into the case before testing because it would have been a nightmare to figure out the problem inside of the case. Remember your audience are beginners but i am sure anyone who builds a number of computers will benefit this simple thing to do and it really does not add much time to doing the build. Thanks

This is my first time watching Austin. He is very thorough, so if you've never done a build before, he's probably the one to watch. While many others out there have PC build tutorials, I think this is the most thorough, most detailed explanations from picking parts to installing, that I have seen. That being said, he did things in a bit of an odd order in my opinion, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. And I am by no means an expert. My recommendation to a first time builder...Watch this, and a few other build tutorials, all the way through BEFORE you start to build. This will ensure you know all the steps that are coming, and you don't have to redo things as you go, hopefully. Then, pick your favorite tutorial and watch it while you are building, pausing as needed. Definitely keep any manuals nearby. The motherboard manual is particularly helpful as it is likely easier to read than the motherboard itself as far as diagrams. Then enjoy building! As Austin says, it isn't as scary as it seems. In general, building a PC is easier than many think once you have the parts.

I know it might be a little advanced to look into but I think it would have been good to mention when choosing an air or watercooling solution for your cpu the most important thing to look at is the TDP that the cooler can handle which will give you relative insight into what cpu that specific cooler can handle. I know that every company has different TDP specs and they are not 1:1 but it will give you an idea if the cooler you choose will be able to compensate for the heat per watt that the cpu is putting out.

It's always interesting seeing different peoples processes when building a pc, for me I always do board prep first, get it in the case and connect the connectors. Then the GPU goes in, then the power supply. I don't know why I put the power supply in last, I guess it's because I dont want to deal with all those chonky cables round the back when im dealing with all the other cables at the same time.

I would recommend stepping up to a 280 or 360 all in one cooler over a 240. These modern processors run very hot and the boost clocks are very dependent on temperatures. If you have the physical room to go bigger than 240 I would always recommend to go larger.

Two things wrong-ish here. One, Austin should have avoided the Samsung NVMe drives based on the issues reported for them (yes I know there's a firmware update, but a new builder WILL NOT, period). Second is that Austin really should watch other folks video's, like for instance Hardware Unlimited's just posted video stating that the CL rating and speed of the DDR5 memory you choose, especially in an AM5 build like this one, really does matter, by quite a bit honestly. Other than these two guffaws, decent job of presenting a build video. Just do a bit more research before doing this and you'll be golden Austin.
@joee7452

I will point out he bought a 980 pro. The issue was in a specific firmware version from 2021 (3Bxxx). The Samsung drives manufactured last year (I believe they stated they switched to 4Bxxx in January of 2022) are not affected. If someone went out today to do a build and bought a 980 pro, then they are almost certain to be on a newer firmware. I bought 8x 2tb 980 Pro's back in November and I also checked 4 from back in Aug. All of them were already on 5Bxxx. I had 2 friends check theirs (I built their new pc's back in April/May) and they were on 4Bxxx. Avoiding all Samsung drives for an issue is on a specific version of firmware on 2 specific models is a little extreme. He should have mentioned it though. At least telling people to check the firmware if they buy 990 or 980 Pro (even if they chances of being on that firmware now is extremely slim for the 980 models ) would have been nice to see. On the RAM and AMD, I agree. AMD is proving to be very RAM timing specific and he should have at least mentioned it and directed people to look into it. CL timing is really less important then other secondary times on RAM, but for new builders, they can see the CL speed on the RAM box, the other timings are a little deep to understand for a newcomer. That was my issue with his video. He didn't do any timing tightening to test. I would have like to see if the issue really is the CL speed or if it is something else that could maybe be corrected though tweeking one ore more of the secondary timings.

U spent more time talking about cases than u did cpu and motherboard combined. U just "brushed" over the importance of making sure the cpu and motherboard are compatible,but said nothing about what the differences are. "Pick a cpu and a motherboard" shouldn't be the extent of the information on a "how to build" video

This is fkin ridiculous, i bought every single part exactly like you wrote there, and the Lian Li Galahad 240mm RGB Water Cooling Kit still don't fit my motherboard. The worst is that the part you used is nowhere to be found, i looked on the website that you offered, and they don't ship. So, what is the point of making people believe you are building a PC with the parts they can also "get" if the parts are not available. Just making everyone waist their money and damn time. The idea was to buy everything you said and build the PC with your instructions, but here we are, you giving me parts that don't fit and me falling from it.
