I remember watching Mayo play in high school quite a few times... it was obvious he was special... the LeBron type hype had a lot to do with him being right behind LeBron in age and playing high school ball in Ohio. Mayo was 6'4 at best but still crazy athletic... but not bounce like Bron..... Mayo's teammate tho................... Bill Walker... he could jump out the gym..! I'm talking Vince Carter type hops... He was big time as well as Mayo... so watching those two together in high school was insane. Walker went to Kansas State and blew out a knee but still made it to the league. Injuries and work ethic kept him from being great. Mayo was a bit lazy as well... just an amazing talent

some of the issue with the bigs like Thabeet getting drafted early is the shift that happened in the league. For bigs, the defensive pressure - i.e. the way the force teams to change their gameplan and shots, effectively gave them immense value in a largely mid range and inside out league. With most of the focus being towards an inside out focus now, enforcer bigs are seen as an amenity to "change up". SO the stats that resulted from this change isnt sooo shocking.

If OJ Mayo, a guy who almost averaged 20ppg on good efficiency in his rookie and sophomore seasons is a bust, then how is Michael Beasley not on this list. OJ Mayo was a monster and got buckets at every level, but he just preferred getting high. Can't blame him + at least he was good when he was high. I will never understand any team not picking Steph when he was available. Yeah he's tiny, brittle and weak. He's also still Dell Curry's son who has been trained to become an elite shooter by his NBA sharpshooting dad and his most trusted buddies for Steph's entire life.
