Sure it does, he was a good fit, but look at all the pieces we acquired in free agency. I think that it not only makes up for the loss of Z and Lindholm, overall I think we're a better team. I'm looking forward to seeing our new players. GCG!

@@IusedtohaveausernameIlikedi give it a B rating. It all hinges on how well Debrusk gels with you know who, and if Desharnais can be trained late in life how to skate better and faster. We Canucks fans started calling Lindholm over-rated when we were underwhelmed by his performance coming to Vancouver, so much so that he's become under-rated and in the playoffs he was a top performer, playing to his real ability as one of the top two-way players in the league. I do like Debrusk but I would have been happier if we had pulled off keeping Zadorov and Lindholm, and I most definitely hope I'm proven wrong. What Nashville did was totally turn the tables in the West. Some real power moves there acquiring Marchesseault and Stamkos. I think they'll be major Cup contenders. So Nashville and Edmonton. Edmonton is poised to do what Florida did this year, with their core very much intact and a few tweaks added. Vancouver has the best coach in sports, imo, but I just hope the same positive traction manifests further with the team's added components. You see, I'm one of these rare types who loves both the Canucks and Oilers. Canucks first, Oilers 2nd, then any team with a positive narrative and great storyline in its roster and build. But the West will be a hard battleground between Oilers, Canucks, and likely Nashville now. Just my opinion.

Right!? I'm like, we already have something like this it's called "Worlds," or there is also the Olympics every 4 years. I know Bettman has stated he hates working around the Olympics, but they just need to figure it out and do it.

⁠ The problem is that the players do want it, but if you were an NHL owner would you want to risk your star players getting injured in a tournament that makes you zero money? You’ve payed millions for these players, and if they get injured at another tournament you lose the player and the pay. Let’s say the owners stipulate that injuries sustained at the olympics forfeit pay, but the NHL owner still lose their star players, or end up with players playing injured. It’s a no-win for the owners, so I don’t blame them. The NHL is in the business of making money, and its board of directors is made up of owners whose goal is to make money. The players want it, and the fans want it, but it all comes down to the CBA, and I’m not sure the fans can exert enough pressure on the BoD to accept a CBA that guarantees Olympic participation, because I don’t think fans would withhold 4 years of support for 2 weeks of international hockey.

Agreed, but it's still better than the lame all star game. I also agree with jason that the NHL needs to cooperate better with the Olympics and the IIHF. The NHL acts like it owns hockey and that is annoying because they don't.
