"Argentina Is Not Racist Anymore" Dude we abolished slavery in 1813, and never had legal segregation of any kind. We also never had "native reservations", we integrated them all "roman-style". Their chiefs became officers of the cavalry army, and their childrent went to the same public schools as anyone else. Plus by 1920 there were more immigrants than natives living here. We were never racist. Or to be more precise, we were never more racist than the US or the UK.

I am an African American who studied abroad in Buenos Aires in 2007 and I had zero problems. Argentines are cool people. Its more diverse than people think, they have Asians who own grocery stores and immigrants from other Spanish speaking countries there. Yo soy estadounidense y no tenía ningún problema en Argentina. @@alfredodelacruz1864 it was a compromise in the 1990's. The USA did not want their blacks to ID as "AFRICAN" because Black Americans are spiritually, physically and mentality must be tied to the USA. if not = it fails. the 13 colonies, 13th amendment and 13% are tied to faith of the continent. The name "African- American is not wrong. its just too ancient for the people who are on the land. Its like calling red Indians (not native american but Native Siberians) . Many Blacks see Africa as a "political" ID not a genetic ID. Many Blacks see America as their genetic ID not Africa. so - that is the compromised. BLACK is too general { that can be Nepal, Australian Natives, Jamaicans, Brazilian etc etc African American, Hawaiian natives, and the MIXED Race, native Americans were added into the Census 1990 to 2000s due to the variety of new immigrants coming to America

As a black man who travelled to Argentina few months ago for work, I can confidently say I had a great and positive experience. Austin is so damn right, the way you carry yourself cannot be underestimated when you travel as a black person. Dress nice, shave clean, talk proper and move like you're somebody then people will reciprocate. I remember going to a popular bar in Buenos Aires for Friday Happy Hour. A group of women were randomly approaching me for pictures while some were hitting on me hard core. Some may argue it's racist but I quickly understood many Argentinians are simply not used to seeing black folks in their daily experiences. Regardless I had a great experience, made new friends along the way and definitely y'all to visit the country. Thanks Austin

In modern times, everyone is equal before Argentine laws. If a black person lives there, such a person is equal: can study, find work, start a business, join clubs, play football, have a lot white Argentinian friends, intermarry and mix well with everyone else. There could be very small percentage of people that could be racists, but I have never seen such people. What I saw was a great cherish and care for black people in Argentine. By the way, if you want to ask, I lived in Buenos Aires for 10 years and I have a native (Porteño)son actually living there right now I am writing this for you. And Argentine, in my opinion, was the country that treated me humanly the most among all the countries I have been or lived in. I wish a great success to all Argentinians wherever they are! The best! At least is intriging to see coloured people in some parts of the country because is not common but i know for a fact that you are not going to get yelled racist slurs or treathed diferent than anyone else. I blame content creators who does miss informative videos against Argentina with biased information they find online. We have a great palette of skin colour around the country, we dont give a single f about it. The problem is you interpolate YOUR racism problems in the past thinking we suffered the same here, We didnt. Slavery was a thing but not as big as it was in the US. We even abolished it before the US. Mixed people fought for the liberty of this country. I invite everyone who want to see it with your own eyes what im saying is true. @@honnibun3974 It would be a surprise in Argentina because given that we are being forever constantly labelled "the most racist country in the world" by some African-Americans who are too stupid to understand that their not getting first-class service on the spot and getting only sheety service has nothing to do with their skin color (since the Argentinian themselves are also getting the same sheety service) and everything to do with our third world standards, then why some black folks would ever want to come to this supposedly notsee rats nest?? It's just the same as immigrants from Africa AND with basic Portuguese, why they don't go to friendlier, warmer, same language Brazil instead and choose us, a bankrupt country, don't they read newspapers?? Why French-speaking Africans immigrants from Senegal come to Argentina instead of going straight to France or the French Caribbean islands or French Guiana, why do they want to ruin their opportunities?? It doesn't make sense for us, since they need to lose precious time learning basic Spanish PLUS coming to a country eternally jumping from hyperinflation to even more hyperinflation or outright poverty; so their selection criteria strike us as particularly inefficient and dumb. Of course we're pleased they chose us ("hey, we can't be so bad a place if they chose us instead of Haiti, yay!"), but we also immediately feel so bad for the poor basterds ("let's give him ten more seconds and reality will hit him so hard in the face, he'll leave his skull print on this concrete wall"). Also, we are geographically removed from almost everywhere, we are equally surprised to see anybody from Ireland or Russia visiting us when they have so many closer, and warmer, and more interesting tourist destinations than us. It is VERY different when there's a black tourist from Brazil or Colombia because they know, and they know us, they just want to quench their curiosity and see if we have any animosity at all against those countries (and no, it's only in football and due to football folklore, where we "have to" outdo and outmatch and outshout everybody else; apart from that, we are in a constant competition among Argentinians to be even more friendly than the friendliest Argentinian. THEY know very well that "negro" is a term of endearment here, we use it among ourselves and there's absolutely zero offense (unless you say it in a derogatory tone, but the word itself is not, and has never been offensive). THEY know we are not racist. Only African Americans think we are. I'm glad this guy here proves to be the one exception.

As an argentine i can tell you that racism in Argentina is nothing compared to the U.S. You may have a distored notion of us because of football (Soccer for you guys). In that context, it's super common to insult the oposing team and its supporters with every insult in the book. It happens every week amongst ourselves in the national football league. We insult each other and we laugh it out (At least most of the time). The problem is when we take that sort of culture to other countries that take those insults too seriosuly (like Brazil for example). To us it's funny and it's a part of football culture but to them is highly ofenssive and racist. The thing is that, when it comet to daily life, we are not a racist country by any means. If you, as a black person, come to Argentina you will not be harassed, attacked or mistreated just for being black.

El argento tiene esa caracteristica de poner sobrenombres pero de ahi a que sea rasista hay un paso enorme

As an argentine I can tell you that there's no real racism in argentina, at least not towards african american, nothing compared to the US, not in a million years. There's though some kind of racism towards people with native traits :( but not that much... it depends on what part of the country are you visiting and who you talk to... and it's actually hard to explain... Of course there are racist people like everywhere else but it's not like if you visit poland where everyone will stare at you. Here people wont mind what you do and actually most people will be eager to help you with what you need. it's not a perfect country , not by far, but we have nice people....

Yes, but that happens in EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY. So Argentina is a very NORMAL, standard country. Black American ("african-american") woke activists have been trying to implement the idea that we are racist and that it would be tied to "aRgEnTinA hElPeD tHe nOtSeEs aNd gOt LiKe fIvE hUnDrEd tHoUsAnD miLLiOnS oF tHem".

Argentina never had a reputation for being racist, until in 2022 an article appeared in a newspaper saying that because there were no black players on the national soccer team. After that, saying that Argentina is racist began to be repeated as if it were true. Argentina is not only not racist, but it is the least racist country in the world for one simple reason, any Argentinian doesn't give a shit about someone's skin color, and I think that is the best definition of not being racist. I have also heard it said that Argentina has a history of racism, and that is also false. In Argentina there is no black population due to historical facts that were the opposite of racism, such as not being a British colony, which was the main slave-trading country, and that when they tried to do it in this country it was not popular. Slavery was not commercially successful in this country and that is why only 2% of black people came and much less than 1% to what is known today as Argentina. In Argentina, anyone in the world, of any race and any religion, can come and study in the best schools or universities for free, use the health system for free, work, etc. Honestly, that reputation that is being created for no real reason is offensive.

@@PPHDocumentaries In Argentina several years ago, largely introduced by the educational system by government policies, it became cool to be a victim of the "system" in some way. I'm not just talking about recism. If you ask someone who is very thin, they will tell you that Argentine society has a phobia of thin bodies and that they feel discriminated against for their thinness and depression, therefore it is the fault of that society. If you talk to someone who is not skinny, they will tell you that they feel discriminated against because when they are not served in a restaurant or if they do not do well with women, it is because society discriminates against them. If you talk to a woman she will tell you that she is discriminated against for being a woman, if you talk to a man she feels discriminated against for being a man and the new feminist culture. You don't have to believe me, just ask any Argentinian if they feel discriminated against and those are the answers you will get. Yes, it is true that it is a classist culture. By this I mean that they do discriminate but based on educational level. If someone of any race, sex or size is well educated they are treated very well, unlike someone without the same. level of education. I repeat, regardless of race.

Of course, as there is everywhere, including predominantly black countries. But I’d say the majority are just people trying to survive and pretty cool. If you treat them well and present yourself well there won’t be a problem 99 percent of the time. In terms of dating, I actually think being a black guy could potentially be an advantage, and not a disadvantage. You are exotic and unique there. Nice to see travel content that is wholly centered on dating and relationships. Buenos Aires looks like a beautiful city with great food and architecture. I think if more "passport bros" took this holistic approach to taking care of their appearance, getting to know an area, and talking to more people than just the first pretty face they see on the street they would enjoy themselves more and improve black men's reputation globally.

Oh! Taht's my neighborhood. Let me tell you: we have racism like in any other country. But being black, it is possible that you will not suffer discrimination, because the black Argentine population is very small, so there is not even a racial stereotype around the black, as there is around the South American native. When the word "black" is used together with a pejorative adjective, it is usually directed at someone non-white, but rarely towards a black person. Even if you come across racist people, they are not going to be racist to you because they will see you as a tourist. Racist discrimination in Argentina always comes hand in hand with class discrimination. And at this point, your observation is very accurate: as long as you are well dressed and not dressed in rags, you will hardly be discriminated against.

Everything Auston mentioned in the beginning is very true. Every person has a bias. I knew people like Floyd growing up. Self Awareness is key. As a man, you must develop yourself. Internally first, then outwardly. Your dress, speech, intelligence and confidence. People, especially women, is attracted to confidence especially if you are well dressed. Swiping & Tinder isn’t real, it is only a introduction. How you show up is important. Based on the videos, Floyd thinks he just needs to show up. Ah no… He needs to put the work in to get the results he is looking for.

The market on the street that you saw is the street market of San Telmo, its only on Sundays but San Telmo is a great place to visit anyday and there is the old market , an old buildinig one of the first markets and there are great food places there but don t buy the fruit or meat there cause it will be super expensive, you will see "verdulerias" all over the city to buy fruits and veggies, and really recomend to visit the "casas de pastas" those are places where you can buy fresh pasta to cook at home, and the "panaderias" are to die for!

Would I go back… I’m open to it, but not on my bucket list. But you’ll be fine and it’s generally safe. We were leaving a club at 3am and there was this group of well dressed 12, 13, 14 yos roaming the streets, smoking weed and apparently doing some hard drugs… we got a lil uncomfortable as we were the only people around. At some point we ended up talking to them, they were cool and funny and ended up taking pictures with us. The country is divided into two parts between fascist conservatives and another part that wants equal rights for all, social justice and a better quality of life for workers. Sadly I must inform you that in the last elections the candidate Javier Milei won, who is, so to speak, a prototype of Donald Trump 😔 In any case, I send you an Argentine hug and I hope that you are treated with the affection and respect that characterizes us good Argentines and not the racists and intolerant ones 🫂🇦🇷
