It is also evident that this boy was intoxicated and that happens a lot at soccer games, which is why many Argentinians do not go to the studios and They prefer to watch the game on TV, some tourists walk through very poor neighborhoods and that is usually dangerous in Argentina. Many people wonder, and are more than happy to tell you why. places you have to visit and which ones you shouldn't but it seems that this boy from California likes adventures and that takes risks like that bad moment could have been more terrible, they were lucky to take care of themselves

People not seeing this as racism in the comments are the problem. I grew up in Argentina and been out of there for 20 years. Everytime I come back or speak to Argentinians it baffles me how normalized and funny racism is to them. Even towards their native population, who in reality, are the true Argentinians. Your 40% European ain't gonna cut it outside of Argentina lil bro. You will also be descriminated against outside in other countries for not being truly 100% white. Maybe thats something you should see or experience to realize how awful, unfair and pointless discrimination is. It doesn't make sense to be a racist a.hole when you could potentially be a victim of this backwards mentality. And I'm not saying only Argentina is like this, this is also an issue in the majority of spanish speaking countries including Spain itself ane it needs to stop. Even though they didn't say literally n-word they called someone by their race and in a angry tone. So yeh i don't thats acceptable as they wouldn't have called a white guy by their race. You guys are coping you need to get out of your bubble and see whats really going on. Racism is not okay. N-word or not that was a racist aggression
@mateowag

If you're Argentinian you should have a better comprehension about that situation. Those guys didn't attack them or insult them because of their skin tone, they did it cause they're foreigners (wealthy foreigners to them). If they had been blond Americans instead, they would have been through the same shitty situation. The guy appeared to be friendly when he approached them, but he had a negative vibe and bad intentions (probably robbery). An Argentinian can easily tell cause we know our country and we know our people, foreigners (even more if they don't speak the language) have a cultural barrier that makes it harder to notice stuff like that right away. These guys were what we call "fisuras", sort of like junkies or highly intoxicated people who want to make trouble or get in trouble if they don't get what they want. The guy asked for a smoke, they refused, he asked them to join them and they refused. So he got mad he wasn't gonna get what he expected and started insulting and messing around with them as revenge. Sadly, in situations like that, (a football match around the stadium full of intoxicated "fisuras") you might encounter that type of people.

Hey brother! good vlog and glad to see you went to la Boca. Just a precision about the last thing you said: There is definitely racism in every country in the world and Argentina (Buenos Aires) is no exception. But there is an element of culture and idiosyncrasy in Argentina where the N word does not really have a pejorative connotation or seek to offend/discriminate someone because of the color of its skin. It is likely that the person who shouted it at you did it with a funny but negative intention (I have not see the segment to be able to interpret it), but just so you know in case you hear it again from someone else, the N word here (Argentina) is a relatively common word to adress someone with affection and closeness (whether for people of color, a completely caucasian guy, an old guy or a young guy) or to describe a guy that has a reproachable behavior (and here it generates the same social condemnation of its use). But this is almost never associated with a racial component. By this I mean that 9 out of 10 times that someone here uses the N word, do not actually have any cultural or racial component attached to it like you may find 10/10 times in the US. Thatas why we do not take dimension of the weight of that word and we use it with a very different and more "casual" sense than in other countries. It is like being called "wey" in Mexico, "pana" in Venezuela or "parse" in Colombia. The problem is that that word has a very negative cultural impact for the U.S, but not for the rest. But one way or another I think you know perfectly well how to differentiate a country from an idiot, so any clarification are redundant. Looking forward to more videos!
@poluxsaurus1454

N-word is not the same as "negro", negro can be friendly or insulting depending on context, but we don't have friendly uses for the N-word. This was an idiot who as you say maybe didn't taken dimension of the weight of the word. But he was clearly not being friendly.

The levels you go to defend this is sad. @@BenevolentDictator13 Whatever dude. To come to a country with a prejudice that it is a racist country (even before what supposedly happened) is quite offensive and then label it as such because some drunks in La Boca called you the N-word or Pussy (which would also make them homophobic too) in the context of a futbol game in La Boca is simply to overstate everything. You simply do not know the culture, the idiosyncrasy, the folcroe, the humor and the cultural differences. No one should have even called him a pussy imo, but same as that word, it definitely does not have the racial or homofobic charge that it might have in the US simply because those are two different cultures. But for some reason you want to attribute to it and create a victim. Maybe to promote the channel with things like ""suscríbete a mi canal, mis nuevos vlogs de hoy muestran que un fan es racista conmigo"" or some kind of click bait. IDK. If you want to believe that was said by a "white supremacist" in La Boca, then believe it dude. But I beg to differ.

Of course I'm not defending them, those kind of people are the leftover of the worst thing in Argentina and for sure they wanted to get my man's camera and who knows if everything he got at that moment... But well, the first comment is right in someway, because most of the times we use "negro" in a different way than to be racist. Anyways, what I wanted to say is that he's not totally wrong and "negro" which is the word those people used, is not always used in a bad way, I think that's important cause some people may tell him "negro" as an easy way to talk to him, but it will not mean that they are racist, at least not if that person use it in a good way.

They're not lost... they're just hustling. I hope you can come again when our society and economy start to face better days or at least begin to bloom.

As an Argentinian, let me apologize for what happened to you. An then, let me try to put it on context. So.. 1) We're racists here, way more than we like to admit. 2) Racism here doesn't work as it does in the US, for it's not centered in Afro American ethnicity. Yet when addressing racism, USA cultural influence is so strong that we end up adopting your discussion cathegories and idioms, applied over what here are seen as forced stereotypes. 3) Racism main target here is what in the US is identified as "Latino" at first glance, people claiming a "brown identity" (literally) because they're not (pale) white enough to not being segregated in the sense African American are in the USA, yet not black enough as to be seen as the stereotypical target for racism in the aforementioned cathegories. Racism expresses as being frown upon, doubting of capabilities or moral standards, and more than imposing a crystal roof holding them down, to have them walking on a muddy floor making it hard to take off, excluding people from social circles and depriving them from job opportunities. But you won't be shot by the police when they stop your car. 4) Language: in Spanish there is no other word for "black" than "negro", so the so called N-word in English is unavoidable and deprived of racial implications in many contexts, even when applied to people. In fact, in places like Córdoba with a high intermix of ethnicities, people use the word "negro" as "bro" in English and even as if it were a pronoun, even to address the palest white people. Yet, the word "negro" is derogatory in some context. In particular it's used to discriminate people of brown identity and people of lower social class than the speaker and disregarding ethnicity. So, even white people from poor neigborhoods would be called "negros". 5) Bit of history: during colonization, Spain and Portugal made a peace treaty (Tordesillas treaty) splitting the conquerable World in two. They draw an imaginary longitudinal line, everything at the East of that line would be callable by Portugal, and at the West by Spain. Hence Spain had no business in Africa, and wasn't involved in slave trading. Their main workforce came from the conquered Native Americans. On top of that, Church was strong in Spain and they pursued to convert natives to Christianity. Servilism was ok, but not slavery in the sense of property. The Church promoted to free and protect the slaves, and since they slaves were Portuguesse main work force, this also undermined their expansion efforts, so Spain endorsed the polocy. This line passes trough (and made) the border between Argentina and Brazil et Uruguay. Slave traders avoided Buenos Aires ports and went to Montevideo instead, hence the huge difference of Afro American population at both sides of the line. 6) Aristocrats and high class people at the East (Buenos Aires, as opposed to Córdoba) indeed had slaves but they weren't open about it, blurring the line between slaves and servants. Slaves (as most servants) could be free to leave, but with nowhere to go but to serve other people. By the time of our Independence, the Constitution stated anyone setting foot in Argentina would be free. They also enforced a "law of womb": newborn from slaves would be free. Yet, they kept being excluded from many activities. They end up enrolled in wars like the Patagonia conquering one, and that decimated the African American population, while in the West it intermixed with Native American and with white as well, than then moved East. So it's very likely that most of us having 3 or more generation here, have Native American and African heritage, even when seen or identifying ourselves as white. Many people that are seen as white here would be identified as African American or Latino in the US, so this also made up into offical stats telling there are less Afro descendants than we actually are. 7) We multiply our population through immigration from Europe, the say goes "Argentinians are descent from boats". We perceive ourselves as white Europeans disregarding our true ethnic heritage. Argentinian black people face a different manifestation of racism, without necessarily being segregated, from being seen as foreigners. Things like being asked to present their passport to identify themselves, that ends up excluding them anyway, so even for them the racism doesn't work the same way than in the US, and lacking cathegories from the US cultural influence, it becomes hard for them to address the issue. The conclussion is that even when we're racists, it manifests in such a different way than it does in the US, that you cannot read what happened to you trough the same lens. I don't know exaclty what happened, but my educated guess is that you meet a bunch of seldom drunk people that here would be called "negros" in a derogatory manner and they know it (in fact, Boca team and it's fans are called, even by themselves, "bosteros", meaning both "shitty ones" and "shit shovelers", whilst their main adversary team, River Plate, are "the millionaries"). They were inviting you, applying racial prejudice, I'd say parhaps expecting to take advantage of you in some way, like making you pay the beers, but then, it could have been a genuine friendly invitation. The way you dismissed it was offensive for them (I'd say, even dangerous for you). They noticed you're American and they watched enough TV as to know how to crawl under your skin. And they managed to. Because none of what they said to you is used in here, nor is a valid translation for any racial slur used in here, but what we know is a racial slur in the US. Add a dose of anti American feelings to the mix, and what you've got would be more from being American than from being black. And probabily, being Afro American is what saved you both from a beating. If I may say, you seemed over confident in a place you didn't quite understood, and I believe you lacked some local coaching on how to safely turn down people. And don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming the victim, that were you both here. But placing this on the racial realm ain't just a mistake, it may hinder you from understanding something that may concern to your future safety overseas. Please, be welcomed to come back, and I hope you to make this place a home you'd want to return to over and over.

Ok I wasn't following you on Instagram yet, I'll do after commenting here, and I'll probably talk more with you there about what you experiencied. But right off the bat, let me tell you, as I said in the previous video, I'm glad you are staying two more weeks to leave with a better impression of this land. With that said, what you should know about those hoods is simple and probably as you nicely described. There is racism everywhere and that is the people like those guys that found you passing by, that made us look worse. Those men probably don't work or study you know? They live from the goverment. Instead of spending money on their future, they live by drugs and crime. (Luckily you guys were out with no harm despite the horrible comments) but ut's sad to think even we as locals live worse. In football as in no other event, families are less frequent in stadiums surrounded by hoods, cause those men can be around and not only take your phone, but your life. In this case they were racist and dirty despite your politeness and that's as bad. And a little detail you may have missed, that guy with the beard who told you were to eat... He was telling you as a normal thing, to go to a place who's owner, is the chief of the hooligans in the local team. People who threat...kill... and don't give a fuck about others than themselves. That's how naturalized they are in society. I don't want to get political, cause I don't want my comments to be all about that and long as heck (forgive me) but sadly, these are the people who still have the right to vote and they still vote socialism. Look what that led them to... But leaving that a side, I'll message you on instagram and I'll be at your dispossal for anything you may need. Thanks for the kindness and for letting me know about the upload despite me being suscribed. You care about your followers and it shows. I'll keep watching. Thanks man!

commenting really late but that last thing that happened to you was awful. were they being racist? yes, probably. but at the same time i’m pretty sure no one there knew what they were really saying (still racist tho!). also those people are probably disrespectful to everyone that’s why we often recommend no to go to those places. regardless of that i hope you had a good time in argentina and that was just a bad moment

Exactly man! When people are racist in the states i don’t make excuses it is what it is! But to act like this doesn’t exist is apart of the problem lol!!!!

Tomaron todas malas decisiones.
