Well I am 64 and wouldn't live anywhere else other than Adelaide. Suits me. Quiet life, easy access to anything I want and doesn't cost the earth. Weather is not too bad, certainly not cold and wet to the same degree as Melbourne even though they get our weather. Odd how they go through the seasons daily.

Interesting story, currently there is a housing crisis in Australia (exacerbated by migration) and it is very difficult to find somewhere to live. House prices are astronomical and rents are extortionate with 100's of prospective tenants competing for one home. As for teaching, there is a severe shortage of teachers here because young people are not not enrolling in education courses as it is not an attractive career. Australia appears to be the promised land and if you are thinking about applying to come here then do your research beforehand.There are jobs in building and mining that pay well however.

Hi. This may be the wrong post to ask for help, but a fellow KZbinr was denied her permanent visa even though she qualified for it and was visibly upset. I advised her to get an immigration lawyer because they helped me. I have been a permanent resident since I was three, but after I decided to become an Australian Citizen, it took almost eight years to navigate the system. All was well after I got an immigration lawyer. I was nearly 55 before I got my citizenship. Can you help? She is Caitlyn from Kinda Australian.

I taught in a UK school unqualified, trained and received my QTS and started my first ECT year. However, due to a really challenging school, UK education system pressures its currently facing I decided to try something else. I now always feel like picking up a WHV in Aus and give teaching another chance out there. I also still coach cricket here in the UK for a county system so that would be transferable too. Do you think this is possible going into schools out there, or will they view me stopping my ECT in the UK as a negative?

I do find it strange that however much people rave about living in Australia they still refer to the UK as home. This was for me as well and eventually brought me back to the Uk. X

I think that is the real test to if that country is right for you. To be content it must feel that it has become your home. Sadly that didn't happen for us although we travelled heaps in Australia and made lifelong precious friends. No regrets.x@@lutontown5923

It's poor people who are finding it difficult to get a house. That's why our homeless numbers are going up. It's nobody's fault but let not pretend they don't exist

Hey mate! I've got a kinda specific question.. I'm on my second WHV in AUS. As a foreigner, and when you work on your ABN and don't earn more than 18200$/a, you don't have to pay any tax? Is that right?
@baljj
@baljj Ай бұрын
Working holiday makers in Australia, holding either a 417 or 462 visa, are subject to a flat tax rate of 15% on their earnings up to $45,000 for the income year 2024. There is no tax free allowance for WHV. Sorry to burst your bubble!

You both can do us West Aussies a HUGE favour - start promoting UK teachers to come to WA PLEASEEEE. We've been getting the American teachers over here (my granddaughter, who lives with me, year 10, has 2 of them, both moved here before Xmas. One from Texas one from Georgia), and they don't have a clue how to get on with Aussie kids. Both are Trump supporters, which speaks for itself IMO lol. I honestly can't see either of them lasting long here - the kids can't stand them, and neither can the parents lol. I reckon it won't be too much longer before they're run out of town lol. Save us UK, PLEASE 😁

@@marieravening927 Absolutely. Apparently, so I've been told, that it's our hot days that puts most UK people off, I wish they were also told/knew that Perth has far less extreme events, such as floods and massive fires. UK people we've got great air conditioning unit's in the schools, and in most homes. Perth is an awesome place to live, with a lot of places to travel to for amazing tourist sites.
